Most – if not all – digital, electronic, and wireless technology is NOT eco-friendly. For one thing, it’s made with environmentally harmful components including conflict minerals. Due to “planned obsolesce” and short life-spans, most of it ends up in landfills instead of being recycled.
Another thing – personal devices (phones, activity trackers, home assistants, etc.) and infrastructure emit cell phone and wireless WiFi radiation and other sources of Electrosmog which were all classified as harmful pollution decades ago. So basically Green New Deal supporters are contributing to (theoretical – Ed) climate change if they buy and use these devices. Anyone serious about reducing climate change needs to re-evaluate their choices and habits.
Personal devices aren’t the only problem. The Green New Deal supports utility “Smart” Meters which have been been known to use more energy than traditional analog meters and they emit wireless radiation and Electrosmog. They also catch fire and explode. There’s nothing eco-friendly about any of that. They also have to be replaced more frequently than traditional analog meters. I wonder if anyone is keeping track of how many discarded “Smart” Meters have ended up in landfills.
The Green New Deal supports “Smart Cities” and The Telecom Industry can’t even prove that the 5G technology being installed is biologically and environmentally safe. Many environmental groups are opposed to 5G including the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the California Chapter of the Sierra Club.
Not only that The Internet of Things (IoT) has an almost 75% failure rate which means more devices and infrastructure ending up in landfills after being replaced.
Green New Deal supporters aren’t the only Americans who want to reduce climate change. But their controversial and unpopular plan is NOT the way to go.
Technology isn’t going to solve all environmental problems. Many environmentalists already know that.
