On June 14, the Trudeau government announced they would suspend the travel ban on the over 5.7 million unvaccinated Canadians temporarily after more than half a year of rampant discrimination.
However, as noted, this is only a suspension, meaning that the restrictions can and will likely return in the fall, during flu season.
“If the situation takes a turn for the worse, we are prepared to bring back the policies necessary to protect Canadians,” said Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs.
Additionally, the mask mandate on planes will stay.
The changes will take effect on June 20, allowing for unvaccinated Canadians to access trains, planes, and marine vessels for domestic travel domestically and for outbound international travel. However, they will still be required to quarantine when returning from abroad.

However, while the federal mandates and travel bans have been suspended, the US’s ban on incoming unvaccinated foreigners remains. Thus, while unvaccinated Canadians can board a flight to other countries, the US will stay out of reach for the time being.
As for why Trudeau has decided to give unvaccinated Canadians their rights back after just announcing they were extending the mandate to June 30, it appears to have less to do with the science and more to do with political science.
As we reported yesterday, the announcement, disseminated by Trudeau’s state broadcaster, came the same day that Trudeau was caught flying into the country with an active COVID infection, which he supposedly acquired while mingling with left-wing world leaders in Los Angeles.
Trudeau's border measures failed to keep him, (an actively infected COVID patient) out of the country. End the mandates.

Other reasons include the risk of a political coup from within the Liberal party, as several MPs, some anonymous and some not, indicated that a majority of the Liberal caucus disagreed with Trudeau’s decision to continue discriminating against the unvaccinated.
Last week, speaking to The Hill on a not-for-attribution basis (this MP wanted their name protected), one Liberal MP said, “The massive majority of Liberal MPs want the mandates to end.”
“People are saying ‘What the hell, why are [unvaccinated] people not allowed to fly domestic, you know, like, at least let them fly domestic with masks on. You can go into a shopping mall with them; you can go into an elevator with them; you can go into a movie theatre with them.”
Liberal MP and medical doctor Marcus Powlowski shared the view that ending the mandates is long overdue.
“The need for mandates is certainly changed, and the calculus is not the same now as it was two months ago, three months, or six months ago. I would suggest that the vaccine requirements for being on planes and at workplaces at the moment, I don’t think the benefits of that mandate warrant the cost,” Powlowski said.
However, while it was long overdue for Liberals to start dissenting, these outcries only came after former NHL hockey player Ryan Whitney recorded his days-long experience in Pearson Airport, which subsequently went viral. The video showed what an embarrassment Canada’s travel industry had become, adding more fuel to the dumpster fire that is Trudeau’s international reputation.
All of these instances undoubtedly contributed to Trudeau ending his vindictive travel ban on the unvaccinated — though the government denies this profusely.
