According to an opinion piece in the Hindu Businessline, India already has 3 million tons of E-Waste and this will more than likely increase due to the introduction of 5G.
5G E-Waste concerns have been reported before. Let’s not forget also that E-Waste is a huge problem already without 5G (see 1, 2).
So what will happen to all the increasing sources of E-Waste if there is ever a global ban on sending it to developing countries?
