The 2020 Campaign–Transforming the Narrative

Op-Ed by Janet Phelan

For the last number of election cycles, we have voted in Presidential candidates who profess to be outsiders. From our choosing Bill Clinton, then George W. Bush (who rather incredibly positioned himself as a country-boy Texan and not part of the power cabal ) then Barack Obama and Donald Trump, our voting record seems to reflect an escalating perception on the part of voters that we need someone who is not connected to the DC inside track (sometimes referred to as the Deep State) in order to best put our country back on track.

In fact, many who voted for Barack Obama, the die-hard liberal and former community activist, turned around and voted for die-hard conservative and businessman, Donald Trump. Voters want change and it appears they hardly even care what policies the candidates espouse, as long as they appear to be on a different path.

Trump played this card brilliantly. During his campaign, he positioned himself as the alternative to the Deep State, alluding to his intent to put Deep Stater Hillary Clinton in prison, to expose the truth about who was behind 9/11, and to “drain the swamp” of the corruption that is endemic in our system. He also voiced support for WikiLeaks, which he now professes to have forgotten.

Whatever his original intent may have been, Trump has done a 180. Clinton is not going to prison, 9/11 Truth languishes in a bottom drawer, the Swamp is in full force and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is fighting for his freedom from Belmarsh Prison, where he awaits the possibility of extradition to the US on charges that would put him away for life.

As we head into another election cycle, it would be smart to keep in mind that we have been betrayed, repeatedly, by promises of ‘change.’ The dark horse, when elected, morphs into the same ole pack animal, carrying us forward into a darkly questionable future.

The stakes couldn’t be higher. After nearly two decades of “military actions” in the Middle East, Americans have become jaundiced and war-weary. We fail to see that the pending conflict with Iran carries a weight and potential that will tip the scales into a world wide calamity.

It is becoming increasingly clear that this war will take place. Attempts to frame initiating incidents, such as drone attacks or oil tanker seizures, have raised questions as to the authenticity of these events. Given that the Mother of All False Flags, 9/11, has never been properly addressed, our collective concerns are cavalierly dismissed, flies buzzing in the kitchen.

We are being lied to at every turn. Are any of the Presidential candidates offering us the truth? As we veer into an increasingly apocalyptic future, is it even possible for a President to take the reins and not end up another Dealey Plaza casualty?

We don’t need another Commander in Chief to take over the wheel of a train which is heading for the cliff. We need a leader with the wisdom and integrity to stop the progression towards disaster. When Trump shockingly signed CISA, when he welcomed into his fold John Bolton, under whose tutelage as Ambassador to the United Nations the entire State Department delegation boycotted any oversight to the Biological Weapons Convention, he showed to the rest of us his fundamental nature.

The future will contain a biological horror story which Trump, along with his Oval Office predecessors has enabled. No other candidate seems to be in any way addressing this. If we are to survive our leaders, we must confront them with the reality of their plans. The increasing desperation of the voting public, which is swinging almost manically from left to right then back again in search for a leader that can be trusted, is only one aspect of the unfolding crisis. If we are to save ourselves, if we are to save our country and–indeed– the rest of the world from our leaders’ duplicitous plans, we will have to speak up loudly and consistently.

The debate is not whether we vote for Brand X or Brand Y. The debate now needs to focus on why none of the prospective candidates is telling us the truth. Our voices can change that debate. And if not now, when?
