Five Times Trump Proved He Is No Different Than Obama in 2018

By Matt Agorist

As we look back at 2018 — and all the insanity that unfolded during the last 365 days — Americans are slowly learning that there is very little difference between the two parties. The Free Thought Project has compiled a list proving this assertion by showing five times Trump betrayed his ostensible Republican principles and followed in his predecessor’s footsteps.

As Donald Trump flip-flops on a number of key issues that made the public believe he was the “outsider” candidate who would change the status quo in Washington, Americans are reminded that the current president now appears to have more in common with his Democratic predecessor, Barrack Obama, than he does with the candidate they thought they elected.

1. Gun bans

After the tragic shooting in Florida earlier this year, Trump took to the limelight to begin banning and controlling. Up first on the agenda was the bump fire stock.

It didn’t matter at all to the president that the bump fire stock wasn’t used in the Florida shooting—but he took to moving to ban it anyway.

Shortly after the shooting, notorious gun-grabber Senator Dianne Feinstein sat next to Donald Trump and likely salivated over his gun rights-hating remarks as he called for the removal of due process and to “take the guns first.” Now, police are doing just that.

2018 has been an unprecedented year for the erosion of gun rights.

In 2015, President Obama directed the ATF to pursue a possible ban on the M855 cartridge. To do so, they released a proposed agency rule which redefined M855 “green tip” ammunition as “armor piercing” to qualify it for federal prohibition under the 1968 Gun Control Act (GCA).

Luckily, Obama failed. However, Trump picked up where he left off and has gone even further as he has unilaterally implemented new federal gun control in the form of a bump stock ban.

2. Continuing War

While it was a highly refreshing move by the Trump administration to announce the removal of troops in Syria in December, American troops are still in other countries — fighting wars — and we’ve yet to see the full removal of troops from Syria.

Just like Obama, Trump has proven to be “Saudi Arabia’s bitch” by continuing to support their horrific war and genocide in the country of Yemen. Just like Obama, Trump promised to bring the troops home from Afghanistan, but has instead increased them.

Just like Obama, the Trump administration continues to rain bombs down on families in the Middle East—ensuring a constant assembly line of “terrorists” who wish to retaliate against the United States after a hellfire missile blew their children to a fine red mist.

3. Russian Conflict

While the mainstream media has spent an agonizing amount of time pushing the false narrative that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his government officials to hack the servers of the Democratic National Committee to gain information that would harm Clinton and help Trump in the 2016 election, Trump has devoted nearly as much time to calling the claims a “Witch Hunt” against him.

In fact, Trump acknowledged the amount of effort Russia put into eradicating ISIS from Syria and he claimed that he wanted to work with the nation, instead of against it.

However, Trump—just like Obama—nearly kicked off World War III with Russia in an major act of provocation.

Trump, just like Obama, then issued a slew of sanctions against Russia that set off a chain reaction of events that will ultimately lead to the demise of the US dollar and strengthening of Russia/China/Iran relations.

4. Saudi Arabia Curtsying

Despite repeated pleas by activists and politicians alike, the Obama admin and now the Trump admin have overwhelmingly looked the other way in the face of all the evidence and human rights abuse, opting instead to ignore it and sell the tyrannical country weapons they are currently using to carry out genocide in Yemen.

Even when presented with undeniable evidence that the Saudi crown prince himself ordered the brutal torture and murder of a Washington Post journalist, Trump chose to look the other way.

In October Sen. Rand Paul called out the facade that is Trump’s plan of sanctioning 15 people in Saudi Arabia for the death of Khashoggi.

“I think sanctions are a way of pretending to do something. If you sanction the 15 thugs that the crown prince sent to [the consulate in Istanbul,] you’re sanctioning 15 thugs and they’ll just get 15 more thugs,” he said.

5. Continuing effort to cover up 9/11

For a decade and a half, Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush kept secret the alleged role Saudi Arabia played in the September 11 attacks on America. Because of the cozy relationship the US has with the terrorist nation—which Trump is complicit in maintaining—special interests within the government have chosen to protect their Saudi friends instead of telling Americans the truth about what happened that fateful day.

For those who remember, Donald Trump himself used to tell people at his rallies that the Saudis were behind 9/11—a habit he quickly abandoned once he got into office. Now, just like his predecessor, Trump has chosen to protect the perpetrators instead of going after them.

“Anyone remember who attacked us on 9/11?” Rand Paul said in an epic speech earlier this year. “Anybody heard of a madrassa? They have 20,000 madrassas in Pakistan funded by the Saudis that teach hatred of Christians, hatred of Jews, hatred of Hindus, throughout the world.”

While speaking with supporters at a campaign event in Bluffton, South Carolina in 2016, then-Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump said if he is elected “you will find out who really knocked down the World Trade Center.”

“It wasn’t the Iraqis,” Trump said.

“You may find it’s the Saudis.”

Trump was referencing the fact 15 out of the 19 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. He also, somehow, had knowledge of what was in the 28 pages that would be declassified a few months later in July.

Trump went on to say the government has “papers…that are very secret” which may implicate the Saudis, perhaps referencing the report discussed above.

“You will find out,” Trump said.

Before he was elected, Americans did find out that the 28 pages proved the United States government knew the Saudi Arabian government had a hand in and supported the terrorists who carried out the attacks on 9/11 — and covered it up.

Fast forward to post-election win Trump and his view on Saudi Arabia has changed — drastically. Now, just like Obama, he’s BFFs with the terrorist regime, responsible for the deaths of 2,369 Americans.

This is the state of politics in the land of the free.
