Most would agree that pollution – at least to some degree – is unhealthy for the environment and everything in it. If nothing else, it’s not helping matters.
Electrical Pollution, also known as “Electrosmog” or “E-Smog” is pollution from sources of Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) and Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR).
Electromagnetic Radiation includes cell phone and wireless WiFi radiation which operates via Microwave Radiation. This is also sometimes referred to as Microwave Frequency (MW), RadioFrequency (RF) and RadioFrequncey Radiation (RF).
Infrastructure installed by telecom and utility companies also produces harmful Electrosmog.
Personal electronic and WiFi operating devices contribute to Electrosmog as well. Manuals include guidelines and warnings so we are aware of how to reduce our exposure to harmful radiation.
Many people think that if it was really a big deal, everyone under the sun would be warning us 24/7 about Electrosmog.
Recently there have been more warnings about exposure from a variety of sources including comedian, Bill Maher. Some are referring to the Telecom Industry as “Big Wireless” and comparing them to “Big Tobacco” and “Big Oil.” That’s not a compliment.
Warnings about exposure to Electrosmog aren’t new. In 2010, NBCNews.com posted an article called “Is Electrosmog Harming Our Health?”
According to the 2010 article, the answer is yes –“The evidence showing harm is overwhelming”.
- In 2007, the Bioinitiative Working Group, an international collaboration of prestigious scientists and public health policy experts from the United States, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, and China, released a 650-page report citing more than 2,000 studies (many very recent) that detail the toxic effects of EMFs from all sources.
- Chronic exposure to even low-level radiation (like that from cell phones), the scientists concluded, can cause a variety of cancers, impair immunity, and contribute to Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, heart disease, and many other ailments.
Also according to the article,
- Electrical hypersensitivity (EHS) is becoming more widespread.
- Experts say up to 3% of all people are clinically hypersensitive (to sources of Electrosmog), as many as 1/3 of us to a lesser degree.
- Electrical pollution is increasing dramatically.”
The article also includes historical events which led to research confirming that sources of Electrosmog had caused harm.
Those who suffer from asthma and other respiratory issues are acknowledged and validated. When the air quality is poor, warnings are broadcasted around the clock. Everyone seems to know someone who suffers from exposure to air pollution.
According to experts, 1% of the population has Celiac Disease. It has been acknowledged as a serious and sometimes life-threatening health condition. Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity has also been acknowledged. Everyone seems to know someone who suffers from this. There is even a Celiac Disease Foundation.
Again – from the 2010 – “Experts say up to 3% of all people are clinically hypersensitive (to sources of Electrosmog), as many as 1/3 of us to a lesser degree.”
This has sufferers of “Microwave Sickness” aka “ElectroSensitivity” wondering…
Why are decades of independent, industry, government, and military research still being dismissed as inadequate or “controversial”and
We all know this is because of money. It’s always because of money. We’ve already been through this with countless of other products and pollutants. It’s not personal – it’s just business as usual. For 20+ years, the laws have been stacked in favor of “Big Wireless” thanks to our elected officials and lawmakers.
These same laws have allowed that no “safe” level of cell phone or wireless (WiFi) radiation exposure has STILL been scientifically determined for children or pregnant women.
Despite recent warnings about exposure to sources of Electrosmog, our state and federal elected officials are creating and passing brand new laws which are going to make this bad situation even worse.
“The Race for 5G,” “The Internet of Things (IoT).” “Smart Cities,” “Automated Vehicles,” and “Artificial Intelligence (AI) may sound really cool; HOWEVER, they involve the installation of more wireless infrastructure including small 4G and 5G small cell towers everywhere including in front of homes. Some of this has already been installed.
There has been A LOT of protest about “The Race for 5G.” Dr. Oz featured a segment on his show in February called “The Rise of 5G Cell Towers”. He didn’t seem enthused even one little bit.
There is research already that proves harm from 5G and of course everything leading up to it. In 2014, The Wall Street Journal reported that 1 in 10 cell tower sites violated federal safety standards.
More towers = more Electrosmog.
In addition, since 2009, tens of millions of digital and wireless utility “Smart” Meters have been installed. They also contribute to Electrosmog. A documentary about this was produced in 2013, Take Back Your Power. All over the world, organizations have popped up because people don’t want these meters on their homes or in their communities due to documented health, safety, and privacy issues.
“Smart” Meters have been a colossal failure. Millions have already been replaced for various reasons including early depreciation, fires, explosions, malfunctioning, measurement errors, and short life spans.
You would think that “Smart” Meters would have every single environmentalist on the planet completely up in arms. Nope.
“Smart” Meters are like “robbing Peter to pay Paul.” Some environmentalists still insist that the reduction and eventual elimination of fossil fuels depends on “Smart” Meters despite:
- All the evidence to the contrary
- All the problems
- They produce Electrosmog
- They contribute to E-Waste
Many environmentalists seem to think that eventually these meters will work right. In the meantime, the rest of us just have to be patient and keep our mouths shut. This IEEE article on fires and explosions is from 2012.
Original analog meters didn’t have to be replaced every few years. They lasted on average of 40 years. “Smart” Meters replaced something that wasn’t broken.
If anyone knows how many of these replaced smart meters and their components have ended up in landfills, they aren’t saying.
Many environmentalists also insist that “Energy Efficient” CFL and LED light bulbs are beneficial to customers as well as eco-friendly. This has been heavily debated also as there is research confirming harm and pollution as well.
“The Race for 5G” and “The Internet of Things (IoT)” involves installing more technology. IoT has an almost 75% failure rate. Is anyone keeping track of how much of this failed crap has ended up in landfills?
The Center for Electrosmog Prevention offers advice on how to reduce exposure to Electrosmog. Here is an excerpt from their page:
CEP recommends ridding the home, vehicle, school, and workplace of RF radiation sources such as (utility) smart meters, Wi-Fi, wireless baby monitors, wireless security systems, cell phones, DECT phones and others that are cordless,
Bluetooth and other similar wireless technologies including headsets, wireless TV, wireless appliances, appliances with wireless built-in to communicate with the smart meters (HAN appliances, which can be distinguished by the FCC ID code on the equipment), wireless security systems,
turn off the wireless feature on computers, laptops, notebooks, etc. in the Control panel, no wireless printers, wireless reading devices, and all wireless devices not on this list.
This 2017 article from Paleo Magazine also provides a wealth of information including how to make lifestyle choices and reduce our exposure to sources of Electrosmog. Sexy people like Quarterback Tom Brady and Supermodel Giselle Bundchen have been doing this for a while already.
Reducing our personal use of Electrosmog causing sources will help but it won’t fix the problem. There needs to be an overall reduction of Electrosmog emitting infrastructure and products.
Dear Environmentalists, have you forgotten “The Precautionary Principle.”
These ridiculous new marketing campaigns for 5G, IoT, “Smart Cities,” Automated Vehicles, Artificial Intelligence need to at least be put on pause also until we find a way to make all of this safe. Utility “Smart” Meters need to be eliminated once and for all.
For those who don’t give a hoot about the environment or aren’t convinced this will harm you or your loved ones, utility “smart” meters, 5G and IoT has already put us all at risk for cybersecurity issues.
Small cell tower infrastructure being installed in your neighborhood will lower your property value. Plus whether you were aware of it or not, taxpayers are actually footing the bill for these half-baked projects.
There’s a saying: assuming makes an ass out of you and me. Seems that marketing makes and ass out of you and me too.
Happy Earth Day.
