Moments ago, a maintenance worker for Mandalay Bay came forward and noted that he told hotel dispatchers to call the police and report that a gunman had opened fire inside Mandalay Bay — well before Paddock opened fire on the concert.
The maintenance worker, Stephen Schuck said he barely escaped unharmed after Paddock opened fire on him in the hotel and he credited a security guard with saving his life.
“When the first shooting started, I was kind of frozen for a second,” Schuck said Wednesday on “TODAY.” “He yelled at me, ‘Take cover! Take cover!’ If he yelled a second too late, I would have been shot.”
As NBC reports,
Schuck said he came upon security guard Jesus Campos, who was unarmed and injured in his leg, as Paddock fired more than 200 bullets into the hall and nearby rooms at the beginning of his deadly rampage on Oct. 1. “I am incredibly blessed that somehow I came out of there alive,” Schuck added.
His dramatic account, and the release of audio of those initial shots, comes amid a dispute over the timeline of the events and questions as to how quickly Las Vegas police could have learned about the massacre on an outdoor music festival.
Below is the interview in which he lays out these dramatic details.
To back up the fact that he did call in to report the shooting at least six minutes before Paddock opened fire on the concert, NBC obtained and then released an audio recording of Schuck’s dispatch call. In the recording, we can clearly hear Paddock’s first shots into the hallway.
The official story of how and why Stephen Paddock murdered 58 people at a music festival in Las Vegas last week is falling apart. As TFTP reported this week, police made massive reversals in their narrative which raised a myriad of questions and speculation. Now, we have definitive proof that a call was made warning of the shooter’s presence and his location.
Also, as TFTP reported on Wednesday, according to a report from ABC, we learned that Paddock had access to and used the service elevator at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in the days leading up to his attack on the country music festival.
Had police actually responded to the numerous reports of gunfire inside the hotel room, before the massacre began, perhaps 58 people may still be alive.
What’s more, MGM Resorts, which owns Mandalay Bay, said that while they cannot comment on the ongoing investigation, they have many questions about the timeline since “many facts are still unverified.”
“We cannot be certain about the most recent timeline that has been communicated publically (sic), and we believe what is currently being expressed may not be accurate,” said MGM Resorts spokesperson Debra DeShong.
It is entirely possible to accidentally fudge a few details of the events because of the sheer chaos surrounding the shooting and the subsequent investigation. However, the dramatic shifts in narrative coupled with the new information about how police were warned and that the shooter had access to the service elevator, do not constitute mistakes. They are more closely related to deliberate misinformation and false reports.
While many folks are opposed to asking these questions about the holes in the official story, this new information now shows that, if anything, we are not asking enough questions.

I always find it funny when people complain about cops not responding to shots being fired. We used to blow up some home-made TNT sticks about a half mile from a state trooper headquarters bldg one way and another half mile from a deputy’s station. While they normally came by all the time at night, never did they come by while we were blowing up those TNT sticks. Firing a shotgun in the air is the best way to keep cops away for at LEAST a half hour. While that may seem like common sense, that’s not supposed to be their job. It’s supposed to be their job to head for those shots. Isn’t that why they are armed so heavily and they insist we don’t need to be armed? Because they’ve got our backs? Excuse me while I end this comment to go laugh until I throw up.

The first impression that struck me the most about this event was how the police named “the shooter” before any real investigation had occurred. Subsequent evidence brought forth has indicated multiple shooters around the concert venue with muzzle flashes seen on recordings in multiple places. Are these two security personnel sure that it was Paddock who was shooting down the hallway at the Mandalay Bay 32nd floor? Did they get a good look at him as they scampered for safety? Was it someone who looked like him? I hate to be a doubting Thomas but when you have a non-forthcoming government at all levels when these massacres occur you can’t really blame me or anyone for being at least more curious.
My opinion it went like this:
Paddock was up to something, not sure what exactly. Got interrupted/hastened by guard, and guard took fire and the whole maintenance man thing happened, police get THAT call first and proceed as SOP to guest shooting in room, THEN, they start getting clobbered with calls on concert shooter. May not have even connected the two initially. Bound to have been calls from confused and others based on just the sounds of gunfire. Dispatcher puts these calls out and the patrol guys are trying to cover those calls, until it all centers on Paddock, who by that time is probably dead.
Experienced officers should not get confused between different events and should investigate first instance and in this case how many cops turned up? Usually from what I have seen the place is full of cops and sirens did this happen in this case? Something tells me this was still a terrorist attack and whether Paddock was the sole killer I dont know but am quite sure that Al Bagdaddy had nothing to do with it. Motive is a mystery, just a senseless killing with more guns than one man could use and why use 2 units. Really strange event.

Yeah, those insurance companies sure do know how to screw their policy holders. We have a law in NJ that you must have auto insurance. So what they do is hire a doctor to examine you and write a fraudulent report saying you are fine and don’t need any treatment. Then they cut you off and if you want to recover costs you have to hire a lawyer and sue them. I had an accident in 2012 and they have failed to pay >$4,500 so far that Medicaid had to pay. How much do you think it would cost to hire a lawyer and go after them ?
