When compiling the data for mass shootings (where four or more people have died as per FBI definition of mass murder) under the last five presidents, clearly there’s a startling outlier under the Obama administration. Largest push for gun control in American history just so happens to coincide at a time when there are more mass shootings than ever before in American history. What are the odds?

Could mass shootings have anything to do with mass-medication (psych drugs for ‘ADHD’ etc), the masses sinking into abject poverty and a mainstream rhetoric hell-bent on inciting murder and mayhem?

Because normal people actually need a knife for every day chores. Normal people do not need a gun to cut their meat.
I think we’re making the same point in a different way. Normal people don’t usually kill regardless of the tool they may choose. The responsibility rests completely with the individual.

The claim that the Founding Fathers wrote the 2nd Amendment to enshrine Our ARMED FORCES “right” to carry ARMS is S-T-U-P-I-D.
The only reason for the Second Amendment is to clearly spell-out the GOD GIVEN RIGHT of INDIVIDUALS to keep & bear ARMS.

There has NEVER been a government that felt it had to codify it’s army’s/soldier’s “RIGHT” to “Keep and BEAR ARMS” because there has NEVER been a government that refused to allow It’s own soldiers to KEEP and BEAR ARMS!

When people call for more police protection, they are ipso facto saying “‘MORE’ people should carry guns.” When they call for more gun laws, they are in effect calling for more people with guns to enforce those laws. Personally, I would rather have an armed citizenry around me than more military wannabes running about the streets in camouflage, Humvees, and MRAPs, wearing badges of “authority.”
This is no longer a country where local police exist to “Protect and Serve” their communities. Everything about these new guys cries out: “Seek and destroy!”
As you may have guessed, I am one of those “idiots” saying more people should carry guns (I have done so for years). I believe we have seen a few incidents lately where (aside from staged hoaxes) a few–even one–lawfully armed citizen(s) could have prevented a number of unarmed innocents from being shot down by crazed individuals. Invariably these crimes occur when there are no GI Joe dress-up cops in sight.
Coincidence? I don’t think so. I think that, crazy though they may be, drugged up as they may be, would-be mass shooters choose their ground such that they will be reasonably assured no one will be shooting back. The solution to reducing these incidents is to make it unsafe for these would-be shooters to go anywhere at all and feel safe.
I used to think the same as you, until I moved to Montana years ago. When you live in an area where everyone is armed, you are actually much safer. Think “mutual deterrence” on a smaller scale. You are far less likely to whip out a gun and start shooting when you know everyone around you is also armed. Think about it.
There’s a good reason you’re not an American, and not born free.
