Journalist, activist and author Jason Mattera received a violent response from one of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s bodyguards after questioning the origins of Reid’s multi-million dollar net worth.
“How did you become so rich working in government?” asked Mattera who received no response after he and Reid had formally greeted.
“How does someone on a government salary most of their career accumulate your type of wealth?” Mattera asked once again without receiving a response.
That’s when one of Reid’s bodyguards proceeded to put his hands on the journalist.
Even after Matera identified himself as press, the goon bodyguard continued to grip him up and drive him away from the Senator.
“I don’t care if you’re press or not,” the bodyguard explained.
The bodyguard’s actions towards the journalist highlight the dislike some members of Congress have for transparency. Reid owes an apology to all journalists for the mistreatment of Mattera, as his First Amendment rights came under direct assault.
Reid’s most recent net worth disclosure shows the Senator sitting somewhere between $2.9 and $6.7 million.
