Neurodevelopmental disabilities, including autism, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia, and other cognitive impairments, affect millions of children worldwide, and some diagnoses seem to be increasing in frequency. — Dr. Philippe Grandjean, MD and Philip J Landrigan, MD

Finally, two medical doctors are coming to the forefront with a conclusion I came up with a long time ago: Toxins and chemicals affect children’s brains! Back in the early 1980s I did research on the effects of dietary and environmental chemicals in pregnant women affecting their ability to conceive. My research began when women started experiencing an inability to become pregnant, especially after having been on a birth control pill regimen for several years.
The results of a six-month, pre-pregnancy detoxification protocol for both prospective parents, coupled with an intensive nutrition and dietary program, always resulted in a planned pregnancy – without fail! I cannot tell you how many couples were ever so grateful to finally have a baby to cherish, and they could not thank me enough. However, I always replied that there was a way to thank me; it would be always to feed baby naturally beginning with baby’s first food. As a result, I wrote the book, Feeding Baby Naturally From Pregnancy On…
Moreover, in my nutrition practice I had parents bring children to me who could not tolerate food; who were extremely hyperactive and whom their MDs could not help, except to prescribe drugs that parents swore made their children worse; and children with all sorts of skin problems that physicians seemingly could not help. Since I am not an MD, only a natural nutritionist—now retired, my major tool was nutritional guidance with hair testing. Invariably, every child tested harbored a toxic load, usually lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd). Skin problems always seemed to be associated with toxins trying to surface, since the skin is the body’s largest organ and a pathway for toxic discharges.
One particular child, a little girl, was having a terrible time seeing the blackboard at school, despite numerous tries of eyeglasses. Her mother came to me in desperation since the little girl was just about failing in school. The desperate mother was willing to change the child’s diet and implement a detox program. Long story short: The child was so overburden with lead (Pb) that she had difficulty not only seeing and comprehending lessons, she could not process them in her brain due to the toxic heavy metal load she was carrying in her body. In children lead (Pb) stores in both soft tissue and bone. After a six-month program, the child could see perfectly well at school, her grades improved dramatically, and everyone was very happy that she became a healthy, normal child.
How did a grade-school child get all that lead (Pb)? Both her mother and I theorized that it may have come from the lead seams on the liquid baby formula cans the mother used for bottle feeding her. The cadmium may have come from exposure to the old-time cathode ray TV tubes, as the child loved to watch TV cartoons, etc.
Moving forward in time, more and more toxins have come onto the scene in the form of thousands of chemicals that the U.S. FDA allows to be placed in food and the U.S. EPA does not restrict. In September of 1962, Rachel Carson brought to the forefront with her classic book, Silent Spring the fact that DDT was damaging the environment and certain wildlife.
According to CNN News,
To examine fluoride, which is in tap water in many areas, Landrigan and Grandjean looked at an analysis of 27 studies of children, mostly in China, who were exposed to fluoride in drinking water at high concentrations. The data, they said, suggests a decline on average of about seven IQ points. [1]
“Over the last six or seven years we are actually adding brain toxic chemicals at a greater speed than we are adding toxicity evidence in children’s brains,” Grandjean said. [1]
“At least 1,000 chemicals using lab animals have shown that they somehow interfere with brain function in rodents — rats and mice — and those are prime candidates for regulatory control to protect human developing brains. But this testing has not been done systematically.” [1]
Doctors Grandjean and Landrigan note that in 2006 they pointed out five industrial chemicals as developmental neurotoxicants: lead, methylmercury, polychlorinated biphenyls, arsenic, and toluene. Since 2006, their research and studies resulted in adding six more: manganese, fluoride, chlorpyrifos, dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, tetrachloroethylene, and the polybrominated diphenyl ethers. [2]
The remarkable part about their latest published paper [2] is that they contend “even more neurotoxicants remain undiscovered.” I’d like to offer them a resource to find them: my 2009 book, Our Chemical Lives And The Hijacking Of Our DNA, A Probe Into What’s Probably Making Us Sick.
I heartily compliment the astute Doctors for having the courage to buck many systems, especially medicine, which is built on promoting toxic chemicals as pharmacueticals while creating a legal drug culture, for their conclusions that:
To control the pandemic of developmental neurotoxicity, we propose a global prevention strategy. Untested chemicals should not be presumed to be safe to brain development, and chemicals in existing use and all new chemicals must therefore be tested for developmental neurotoxicity. [2]
Personally, I think the Doctors’ first target should be vaccines, which are created with all sorts of industrial chemicals, toxins, neurotoxins, metals/minerals, plus adjuvants and other questionable ingredients that I discuss in my October 2013 book, Vaccination Voodoo, that more and more incriminate autoimmune diseases, especially the recently-designated syndrome ASIA, Autoimmune/Inflammatory Syndrome Induced by Adjuvants.
In a 2011 published paper, Richard Cervera, MD, PhD, FRCP, stated, “Over the years, many interesting unsolved questions have been raised relating to the ability of vaccines to induce autoimmune diseases.” [3] In his paper Dr. Cervera asks seven outstanding questions regarding vaccines and autoimmunity that Doctors Grandjean and Landrigan ought to investigate, I think, as part of the new international clearinghouse to “accelerate translation of science into prevention,” they so nobly suggest.
Dr. Cervera’s question 5,
Is the number of vaccines given (‘vaccine burden’) important in the induction? [3]
probably is pointing to a ‘smoking gun’, in my opinion.
One of the concerns I point out in Vaccination Voodoo is found in Chapter 16 where I talk about “chemical burns” that may occur from all the chemicals in vaccines being jabbed into infants at birth, and at 2, 4, and 6-month well-baby visits, when as many as nine vaccine actives are given at one time, especially if a certain chemical (polysorbate 80) is in the vaccine. That chemical’s purpose is to push other chemicals deliberately into the brain across the blood brain barrier.
Chemical burns need no source of heat; can occur immediately upon contact; can be extremely painful—are they the cause of screaming fits some children experience after vaccinations; diffuse into tissue and can or may cause damage to the brain that incites neurological anomalies such as encephalopathy or possibly something like Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
However, I don’t expect Big Pharma to cooperate in the new chemical information clearinghouse being proposed. The stake the pharmaceutical industry has in chemicals is way too large, which can act like a ‘House of Cards’, and also be the incriminating factor, in my opinion. Therefore, as I see it, Pharma will decline, if they want to further the legal drug culture globally, since toxic chemicals are the medical and pharmaceutical industries mainstays for promoting health.
May I leave readers with what I used to tell clients? “You cannot poison a body into wellness.”
