In an unexpected moment during MVP Malcolm Smith’s speech after the Seattle Seahawks blowout at the Superbowl last night, something even more unexpected happened – an actual important issue was brought up.
During the otherwise typical player press conference, an unidentified 9/11 truther suddenly grabbed the mic to interject on a heavily watched international news feed “Investigate 9/11. 9/11 was perpetrated by people within our own government.” Reports confirm that it went out live; video was captured of the incident on ESPN.
The bold man was quickly ushered offstage, with a stunned Malcolm Smith asking “Is everybody alright?” before joking “check his press pass.”
Taking over the most anticipated press conference of the year’s most widely watched sports game stands as one of the boldest episodes of “culture jamming,” where activists pursuing the truth on 9/11 (or any other issue) have seized rare opportunities to get whatever press they can for pressing but controversial issues that the establishment-friendly media has all but refused to cover.
Though sports fans and commentators will undoubtedly scoff at the interruption as that of a fringe lunatic (as per the typical script), it will likely also raise some real questions.
Particularly as there is more to the story for 9/11 and the Seattle Seahawks.
Both the NBC Sports blog Pro Football Talk and the sports blog Deadspin reported on the press conference interruption by taking a shot at Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, who apparently had his own 9/11 truth confrontation last summer.
According to an account posted by Deadspin, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll had an interview with retired Four Star Army General and commander of the Iraq War, Peter Chiarelli, where he steered talk about the Seattle sports team and their joint efforts in traumatic brain injury research into discussion about 9/11 and the Iraq War.
Deadspin reports that Superbowl winner Pete Carroll confronted Chiarelli and “wanted to know if the September 11 attacks had been planned or faked by the United States government.” Carroll further asked “whether the attack on the Pentagon had really happened” and brought up ‘every 9/11 conspiracy theory you can think of,’ according to sources.
Seahawks offensive line coach Pat Ruel was among the sources who witnessed the meeting and claims that Carroll, “didn’t stop at 9/11—he had lots of questions about the role of the military today.”
Deadspin reports that the meeting turned “hostile,” and that Chiarelli left the roof after his PR interview over football and traumatic brain injuries was rerouted into a confrontation over the many lies over the Iraq War and the 9/11 attacks that provided a pretext for the preemptive war.
A Seattle linebacker named Riki Ellison who now runs a Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance and connected Coach Carroll and retired General Chiarelli commented that “Pete had a four-star general in the room, one of the army’s top guys. Why wouldn’t you push the envelope?”
While the head coach’s heated questions weren’t televised like tonight’s post-game 9/11 truther, they stand as perhaps an even bolder example of demanding accountability and truth for the inside job to take America to war and warp its society into a paranoid Orwellian police state.
Meanwhile, questions loom about how this truther got past security and infiltrated a high profile press conference during the biggest event in professional sports? Given the controversial comments of Seattle’s head coach, perhaps this incident too will prove to be an inside job.
