It seem like lampooning season is in full swing on the Internet. I can’t tell you how many forwards come across my computer email that seriously diss Barack Hussein Obama, the 44th President of the United States of America. Below are some of the remarks that come with those forwards.
What concerns this writer is this: Why such lampooning? After all, wasn’t Obama supposed to be a shoo-in president? Weren’t the masses enthralled with him? What’s happened? Where’s hope; is it hiding?
Perhaps, these cartoons tell the story more insightfully about how voters feel now than the U.S. media, TV talking heads, or even history will.
Someone on a forwarded email said, “This is too cool – best one yet – sad but true.” Hmmm. Imagine that!
Another person said, “Little did the Platters know in 1955 that this song would be so appropriate 58 years later.” Ouch!
Then added, (and I say this one hits home): “You folks of longer tooth will remember the words and will probably be singing along with the Platters.”
What do you make of this? “Enjoy this to the max, even though El Presidente may not!”
However, there are many more cartoons in this vein on the Internet. Why, if he is so ‘beloved’? How about this one?
Can you imagine how our president and we look to the rest of the world! To get an idea of what some European Union cartoonists think and draw, please see this.
Historically, we’ve talked about impeaching past presidents. One president even resigned! However, only two presidents were impeached. According to Wikipedia,
Two U.S. Presidents have been impeached by the House of Representatives but acquitted at the trials held by the Senate: Andrew Johnson (trial) and Bill Clinton (trial). The House Judiciary Committee voted on Articles of Impeachment for President Richard Nixon, but he resigned before the full House of Representatives could vote on any articles. Since the entire House did not vote, Nixon was never impeached. [1]
What’s going to happen with Mr. Obama? It seems whatever he’s doing wrong may not be wrong enough for congressional action. Why, is the $64,000 question? However, it does seem that the citizens are getting pretty torqued up, especially if animated cartoons like the two above are produced. What does that tell us?
