Gee whiz. Some presents just aren’t appreciated. Sometimes you try to do something nice for a person, and they get all cranky about it.
Kathleen Sebelius, the beleaguered whipping girl of Obamacare head of Health and Human Services, is one of those less than gracious gift recipients.
Instead of being happy to receive a thoughtful gift from Tennessee State Sen. Brian Kelsey, Sebelius appeared to be downright miffed.
If I were in her shoes, given the catastrophic Obamacare website rollout, I would be really happy to receive a helpful tome entitled Web Sites for Dummies, but that’s just me.
Sebelius was in Memphis to encourage participation in an enrollment event at the library when the gift was presented. A quick-thinking photographer from the Memphis Daily News captured the touching moment for posterity.
Sebelius apologized for the difficulties in the sign-up process, but defended the program. She said that people just don’t understand. “There is no question there is still an extraordinary amount of misinformation,” she said. “If 55 percent of the people understand a little more about how it affects them and their families, that means that 45 percent of the people still don’t have any idea, and may have believed that there is anything from death panels for Medicare constituents or something will happen to their health benefits or any number of things that continue to be said over and over again.” (source)
