This is yet another list where the United States government’s “holier than thou” attitude fails miserably on the world stage. The United States ranks 5th worldwide in the total number of annual executions, a practice which has been banned in all other Western countries as a barbaric relic from the past.
The list is particularly noteworthy, as all of the other nine countries featured in the top-ten are considered to be relatively freedom-deprived and socially backward when portrayed in the Western media, and all of them either have currently antagonistic relations with the U.S. or have been victims of U.S. military and economic transgressions within the last several decades.
