Editor’s Note: This is being released as something new, but as you can see in our articles linked below, drones have been tested inside the United States for quite some time. Arlington introduced drones over the Super Bowl and announced back in May that they would become a permanent fixture to assist police and keep a “watchful eye over the city.” It is highly doubtful that search and rescue missions will be the prime directive here.

The Arlington Police Department is in the first part of its experiment in using unmanned aircraft to assist in law enforcement.
The department has been testing and evaluating two battery-operated, remote-controlled aircraft over a small, restricted airspace near Lake Arlington Dam, away from populated areas.
