Why Terrence Howard Is Wrong: 1×1=1 explains that Terrence Howard is an American actor who has been getting lots of attention for his mathematical theories which he presented in his book, videos, and at Oxford University. The 9/14/15 Rolling Stone article Terrence Howard’s Dangerous Mind devoted nine pages to Howard’s ideas and quotes him as saying:
This is the last century that our children will ever have been taught that one times one is one. They won’t have to grow up in ignorance. Twenty years from now, they’ll know that one times one equals two. We’re about to show a new truth. The true universal math.
Joe Rogan said on 5/7/24, “The guy who interviewed me for Rolling Stone said Howard is a legitimate genius”. So, it is worth taking a closer look at Howard’s ideas– especially since his core thesis (1×1=2) is wrong. In his free 162-page online book One Times One Equals Two, Howard explains that the “x” used in multiplication means “to multiply” – and thus to increase in value. So, he concludes that the 1×1=1 in the multiplication table is wrong because there is no increase in value. He believes the multiplication table should begin with “1×1=2”.
“Times” Means Instances (Not Increase)
Howard is wrong that 1×1=2. His mistake is in thinking that the “x” (read as “times”) in multiplication means to increase when it simply means to count the number of times or instances. So, for example “3 x 6 = 18” can be read as “3 times 6 equals 18” or “3 multiplied by 6 equals 18”. However, what it really means is “3 instances of 6 add up to 18” “. In other words, it means that when 3 occurs on 6 occasions, the result is 18. So, it could be read “3 on 6 occasions” or “3, 6 times equals 18”. So, “1×1 =1” is correct because it means “one instance of one equals one”. It shows that 1 is occurring 1 time just as “1×2-2” shows that 1 instance of 2 equals 2.
Rogan Hears Howard Out
Rogan had Howard on his show on May 18 and listened for about three hours rarely interrupting. The show was more of a monologue than any show Rogan has had.
Joe Rogan Experience #2152 – Terrence Howard
Terrence Howard is an actor of stage and screen lauded for his work in “Crash,” “Iron Man,” “Empire,” and “Shirley,” as well as a musician and researcher in the fields of logic and engineering. www.terryslynchpins.com
Howard discussed the periodic table and his theories of science and math. Howard explained at about 18 minutes that Einstein left magnetism out of the equation for his Theory of Relativity because he didn’t realize that electricity is the equal and opposite of magnetism. At 23 minutes, Howard says Newton was wrong that everything moves in a straight line. That has misled astronomers to believe that the universe is just expanding and not contracting.
At 25 minutes, Rogan asks about the Periodic Table. Howard explains that “they” don’t understand that hydrogen unwinds and becomes nitrogen, and nitrogen unwinds and becomes oxygen. Rogan asks about Walter Russell’s version of the Periodic Table that Howard had showed. Howard claimed that Einstein said on his death bed, “I should have spent more time reading Walter Russell’s work”. Howard said at about 27 minutes, “What Walter Russell was missing was the wave conjugation That was because of a mistake made 6,000 years ago. They took the Flower of Life”.
Howard discusses The Flower of Life and asks Rogan’s assistant to show page 64 of his “book” which discusses Platonic Solids derived from The Flower of Life. Few Americans or Europeans have heard of Sacred Geometry since it is not taught in school or mentioned in the corporate media. Why Sacred Geometry Matters So Much! explains that Sacred Geometry is represented by the Flower of Life, the template for all creation.
If you’re wondering what Terrence Howard has been up to lately, the answer is a lot — as evidenced by his roller coaster appearance on the latest Joe Rogan Experience episode.… Howard…took Rogan down a number of loopy alleyways…. claiming to be ground zero for virtual reality technology, killing gravity.
Rogan’s summary to his followers was:
One of the most interesting conversations I’ve ever had, with the great and powerful @terrencehoward. It’s a wild one, and I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of mixed reviews, but as crazy as some of the things this man is saying are, he’s clearly brilliant and if he’s right, it’s going to change the world.
Math Teacher Debunks Howard’s Math
DeLaPena is a math teacher whose 6-part video series debunks Howard’s presentation at Oxford.
Part 1 is shown below. In Part 2, he describes Howard’s ideas as “delusions of grandeur”.
A Math Teacher’s Commentary on Terrence Howard’s Oxford Address (Part 1) 7/23/23
I have a math degree, and have instructed Mathematics for many years. I felt the need to make this video, to point out the ridiculous nature of Terrence Howard, the actor, when it comes to mathematics and science, and hopefully help people to understand why they can’t trust everything anyone says, even if they’re rich and famous….I am adding my commentary to the original source material, hopefully training people on how to spot pseudo-science and pseudo-mathematics on the internet.
Terrence Howard has no idea what he is talking about, and he ultimately needs to stop talking, when it comes to math & science, since the size of his audience is large, and he is encouraging people to misuse mathematics and logical reasoning. Disclaimer: Please don’t take anything that Terrence Howard says with any seriousness. At best, it’s satire; and at worst, it’s a catastrophic failure of the American educational system. Terrence Howard’s opinions are in no way based on fact.
