So far, 5G service has received mostly bad reviews (see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8), even being described last month as a “complete hot mess.”
Of course, opposition and warnings about 5G deployment is increasing due to numerous significant issues associated with it. This has limited, slowed, and/or stopped activation in some locations including again recently near U.S. airports due to unresolved aviation risks due to interference issues. Even the FCC is becoming more concerned about interference and other issues associated with 5G transmitters and receivers. Currently, SpaceX is also warning that that Dish’s 5G service will cause serious interference issues with its service.
From WebProNews:
SpaceX Says Dish Network’s 5G Aspirations Could Render Starlink Internet ‘Unusable’
SpaceX has published an analysis raising alarms over Dish Network’s 5G network rollout, saying it will severely impact its own Starlink internet service.
Starlink is the satellite internet service SpaceX has been deploying. Unlike previous services, Starlink is a low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation, giving it the ability to compete with traditional broadband, in terms of speed and latency. According to SpaceX, Dish Network’s 5G rollout threatens that service by using the same 12GHz band spectrum Starlink relies on, causing interference that will render “the band effectively unusable for satellite service to most Americans.”
SpaceX uses the 12GHz band for the downlink between its satellites and ground-based terminals. The company says that Dish’s use of the spectrum will result in interference at least 77% of the time, resulting in outages 74% of the time.
In addition to its analysis, the company sent a letter to the FCC, in which it blasted Dish, along with wireless firm RS Access:
Upon even a cursory review of DISH’s and RS Access’s supposed “studies” relating to how much harm a new high-power mobile service would do to next-generation satellite broadband services in the 12 GHz band, it is clear that no reasonable engineer could believe they represent an honest interference analysis.
SpaceX even went so far as to insinuate that Dish and RS Access may have intentionally misled the FCC with their statements:
As such, SpaceX urges the Commission to investigate whether DISH and RS Access filed intentionally misleading reports. These reports simply cannot be squared with DISH’s own correct representations in December 2019 that “concurrent sharing of spectrum between co-primary 5G and NGSO FSS operations is not viable in the 12 GHz Band.”
It remains to be seen which company’s data and analysis are correct. However, given what’s at stake for Dish and SpaceX, not to mention the allegations SpaceX raises, it’s a safe bet this saga is far from over.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is supposed to protect Americans from the telecom industry. Instead it has catered to the industry for decades (see 1, 2). This has led to several lawsuits filed against it as well as well-documented complaints made by lawmakers, other government agencies, and consumer, corporate, cybersecurity, environmental, energy, health, and trade organizations as well as telecom companies. In fact, last year, a federal court ruled in favor of organizations and petitioners that sued the agency for NOT adequately protecting Americans from wireless radiation exposure including 5G. Did ya know?
Of course U.S. and worldwide opposition to 5G started long before 2021. Since 2017 doctors and scientists have asked for 5G moratoriums on Earth and in space (see 1, 2) and the majority of scientists oppose deployment due to environmental and health risks. Since 2018, there have been reports of people and animals experiencing symptoms and illnesses after it was activated (see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and in 2019, telecom executives gave U.S. congressional testimony that they had NO scientific evidence that 5G was safe. Of course, research had already determined there are health risks associated with 5G exposure as well as exposure to 4G and other sources of wireless Wi-Fi radiation (see 1, 2) and electromagnetic fields (aka “Electrosmog”).
However, specifically in regard to 5G activation, some researchers have claimed that it may be contributing to COVID-19 infections as well as hundreds of thousands if not millions of bird deaths. Nevertheless, despite all of the above, the insidious “Race for 5G” continues.
