More Airline Flights Cancelled Due to Fog and 5G

By B.N. Frank

American opposition to 5G deployment has been ongoing for years due to various significant risks associated with it including:

Studies have also revealed that 4G is still better, more reliable, and safer than 5G (see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).  Regardless, last week, AT&T and Verizon had permission to activate more 5G in the U.S.  This has led to some airlines cancelling flights due to risks.

5G concerns, fog lead to more cancellations at Paine Field

More Alaska Airlines flights out of Paine Field were cancelled Thursday, citing issues created by the combination of 5G signals and fog.

Major US airlines warn of flight disruptions Wednesday as new 5G service starts

Initially, the Federal Aviation Administration and a number major airlines were worried that there could be interference from the new 5G system that could mess with the altimeters, asking that the full rollout of these new frequencies be delayed until more testing can be done.

Last week, the FAA approved a handful of commercial airplane models to land in low-visibility situations in areas where 5G signals are present. That includes Alaska Airlines’ Boeing and Airbus aircraft. The regional jets used by Horizon Air — which is owned by Alaska and operates out of Paine Field — have not yet been cleared at certain airports, and are still under restrictions during low visibility conditions such as dense fog.

As of early Thursday morning, four flights have been cancelled amid ongoing foggy weather conditions. The airline canceled all of its flights out of the airport on Tuesday, with more cancellations occurring the following day as well.

There were also early concerns for larger airports like Sea-Tac, which were assuaged when the FAA cleared most of Boeing and Airbus’ primary passenger planes last week.

Opposition to 5G is worldwide and this has slowed and/or stopped deployment in some locations.  Since 2017 doctors and scientists have asked for moratoriums on Earth and in space (see 1, 2) and the majority of scientists oppose deployment.  Since 2018 there have been reports of people and animals experiencing symptoms and illnesses after it was activated (see 1, 2, 3, 4).  Some researchers suggest that 5G deployment may be contributing to COVID-19 infections while others say it’s not.  Nevertheless, there are health risks associated with 5G exposure as well as exposure to 4G and other sources of wireless Wi-Fi radiation (see 1, 2) and Electromagnetic Fields (aka “Electrosmog”).  In fact, last August, a federal court ruled in favor of organizations and petitioners that sued the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for NOT adequately protecting Americans from wireless radiation exposure (including 5G).  More recently non-profit groups petitioned the U.S. Health and Human Services Department (HHS) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to declare wireless radiation an “imminent” health hazard and to start warning the public about this.

Obviously, none of the above has stopped 5G deployment from AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile.
