Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) is sometimes referred to as “Electrosmog.” Bluetooth, cell phone radiation, and WiFi (see 1, 2) are sources of wireless radiation which is a source of Electrosmog. American Academy of Pediatrics and other health experts have warned children are more vulnerable to exposure to wireless radiation. In fact, no “safe” level has been scientifically determined for children or pregnant women.
American Academy of Pediatrics and other health experts have also issued warnings about children and screen use (see 1, 2, 3). For many years, Silicon Valley Parents have been sending their own kids to private low-tech or no-tech schools AND limiting their use of tech in their homes. Last year it was reported that some are making their nannies sign “no screens” contracts and spying on them so they don’t break them (see 1, 2).
Considering all that’s being reported – including a class action lawsuit against 11 smartphone models – it’s natural for parents to be concerned about kids’ use and exposure to digital, electronic, and wireless technology (see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) Thanks to Indian Express for reporting more about this:
The problem we have is that we know that most environmental agents that cause cancer don’t cause cancer after a month or a year or two years of exposure. The best example we can give to illustrate this is that, if one was to start smoking cigarettes when they were 12, we don’t expect them to develop lung cancer when they’re 22. We expect them to develop lung cancer when they’re 42 or 52, three or four decades of exposure. We just don’t have that long period of study with people that have used mobile phones. What makes it more concerning is that children are more susceptible to exposure to EMR as they have thinner skulls and their brains contain more absorptive fluid. Research, notably by Dr Om Gandhi, shows that children’s developing brains, eyes and bone marrow absorb electromagnetic radiation three to 10 times deeper than adults.
Additionally, the exposure to electrosmog today is far greater than what was 15 years ago. Therefore, there is a need to use technology responsibly. Small lifestyle changes do make a difference.
Many health experts have been encouraging the replacement of WiFi with wired internet in schools, medical facilities, and other places children spend time. Isn’t it time more parents demand the same?
