Another Bill to Multiply Small Cell Towers - S. 3157: Streamline Small Cell Deployment Act

On June 3rd, the Streamline Small Cell Deployment Act S. 3157 was introduced by Sen. John Thune (R-SD) and Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hi) to make it easier for the Telecom Industry to quickly install countless 4G and 5G small cell towers and infrastructure throughout American suburbs and rural areas.

This includes in front of homes, schools, everywhere. Research has already determined that this is NOT biologically or environmentally safe.

In fact, in February, telecom industry executives gave congressional testimony that they could NOT provide any studies that prove that 5G is safe. FYI – plenty of research already says it isn’t (see 1, 2).

There are a variety of other reasons that have been provided by cybersecurity experts, (see 1, 2), environmentalists (see 1, 2, 3, 4) meteorologists, NASA, NOAA, the U.S. Navy, and utility companies about why installing 5G technology everywhere could lead to catastrophic events.

Regardless, the highly corrupt Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and some elected officials keep promoting the “Race for 5G” and forcing this installation. On June 28^th, S. 3157 was referred to Senate Commerce, Science and Technology Committee for hearings

A State or local government …shall act on any request for authorization to place, construct, or modify a personal wireless service facility within a reasonable period of time after the request is duly filed ….

No State or local government .. may regulate the placement, construction, or modification of personal wireless service facilities on the basis of the environmental effects of radio frequency emissions…

The National League of Cities (NLC) opposes S. 3157. They wrote, “Despite urging from NLC and other local government advocates during the bill’s drafting phase, many preemptive provisions remain in the bill, including limiting the actions local governments can take on small cell wireless facility siting in an effort to make deployments cheaper, faster, and more consistent across jurisdictions.”

Adding insult to injury, according to Lowell McAdam, CEO of Verizon, installing 5G everywhere isn’t even necessary for it to work. 5G antennas can be installed on Macro Cell Towers that already have 4G antennas.

We have now busted the myth that 5G has to be line-of-sight. It does not. We busted the myth that foliage will shut 5G down . . . that does not happen. And the 200 feet from a home? We are now designing the network for over 2,000 feet from transmitter to receiver.

Other reasons you don’t want to live near a cell tower:

They will reduce your property value
They are ugly and obtrusive
They can catch fire and collapse
They are noisy. Really noisy!

HR 530 was introduced in January in an effort to get some control over this craziness. But widespread 4G and 5G small cell installation has still happened and is continuing across the U.S. anyway even though Americans aren’t signing up for it.

If you don’t want this for your community (and an increasing number of Americans DO NOT), you better do something about it ASAP.

Tell Members of the Senate Commerce Committee to vote NO on S 3157 which would escalate deployment of 5G small cells in rural and suburban communities.
