In a 351-66 vote, the House of Representatives has passed their version of the 2019 military spending bill, the National Defense Authorization Act. The NDAA intends to spend $717 billion in the next fiscal year on the military, wars, and nuclear arms.
This is another substantial increase in military spending, broadly supported within both parties. Only 7 Republicans voted against the bill, while Democrats were a bit more split on the matter. Either way, amendments intended to limit nuclear weapons spending or the like were roundly defeated.
One amendment that did manage to make its way into the NDAA was from Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Barbara Lee (D-CA), which demands the Department of Defense investigate if US allies in Yemen were torturing detainees.
The UN had already confirmed that UAE forces were responsible for acts of torture in Yemen, and the investigation is intended to find out if US troops in the country have, in violation of US law, been participating in Emirati torture sessions.
The NDAA bill passed today still has to be reconciled with the Senate version, which was passed by committee in a closed session. Once the two are reconciled, there will be final votes, though there appears so far to be little momentum to resist the ever growing expenses.

Things which makes you go “WTF?”
You can bomb the world to pieces but you can’t bomb the world to peace…
As though the “ missing” $29 trill from the pentagon wasn’t enough!
I remember JFK tell the UN: “Let us not have an arms race, let us have a peace race”. BTW: billions for war and none for better roads, bridges and the homeless
To SpiritualWarrior – There is now very little chance having any change in the thought processes or the enlightenment of any significant number of the American people. All but about three percent of the population are functionally illiterate, have had no exposure to anything that could be remotely considered to be education, and for most of the last two decades at least, have been denied exposure to any real training in many fields in which Americans once excelled in the workplace environment. Compulsory public schooling, in other words government schooling, has done its intended mission very well. All that compulsory schooling was ever intended to do was to train the young to distrust their parents and “respect authority and authority figures”. To obey the “Authority”, believe the “Authority”, and to “never question the Authority”. Thus, to most, truth became lies, lies became truth, and delusion became reality until deception, dishonesty, and corruption until we live in a situation, for most, in which there is no past, no future. There is only an Orwelian present “in which the Party is always right.” Your fear that the worst is yet to come is well founded!
Oh it sure is!… just confront someone who has been brought up in this soup of lies with the truth & see what you get!
No logical rebuttal coz they never thought deep enuf about the lies they believe to realise they don’t make sense.
So they try to kill you!
In many different ways.
Right now it’s by killing your voice through censorship, ridicule, dismissal,
Name calling or shouting down. Some go to the lengths of making it legal through “ hate speech” laws etc.
Don’t mistake a dumbass for someone who’s not cunning. THEY ARE!
But when the gloves come off they’ll try & kill you outright. Why?
Coz when you tell the truth it is such a threat to their reality that the fight or flight instinct kicks in.
They don’t have the time or capacity to stop & consider that you may be right. That would bring their whole world crashing down.
So that makes you the enemy, the truth the enemy & the enemy must die!
Try it sometime & just see what happens.
What you have said is largely true; and certainly true for a very substantial number. Many are simply “dumbed down” and simply ignorant, functionally illiterate, unskilled and apathetic, indifferent and dependent. Those of which you speak exhibit all of the above characteristics except apathy and indifference. They serve a far more sinister master as “useful idiots”. The matrix in which the great majority are unwitting captives did not come about by accident. They are, for the most part, well schooled, believe themselves to be educated, and never have an organized thought other than how to make utter nonsense sound as if it were the wisdom of the ages while promoting the agenda of the oligarchs whose sole mission is to enslave all of mankind as serfs in their serviced.
