The “Kabuki” in the 2016 Presidential Campaign

The word kabuki had connotations of the shocking, unorthodox, and fashionable, and it came to be applied to the performances of Okuni’s popular troupe and its imitators [1] in Japan.

The definition of Kabuki above ought to clang in our collective consciousness during this presidential election season probably more than any time during our history as a democratic republic.  After all isn’t that what voting is all about: the people’s choice?

Almost everything has been shocking, especially Hillary Clinton’s getting off scot-free for apparent crimes committed as U.S. Secretary of State.  How about former President Bill Clinton’s special social call and meeting with “how are your grandkids” Attorney General Loretta Lynch at the Phoenix airport tarmac—all while his wife was under FBI investigation for comparable crimes that sent lauded government employees to prison.

Didn’t the FBI Director blow it and perceive the facts incorrectly, or should he go back to law school for a refresher course on criminal negligence?

What would J Edgar Hoover, the first and almost 50 year Director of the FBI, say or do about it?

Listen to what Bill O’Reilly has to say about gross negligence in handling national security, which is a felony! [2] What’s the difference between careless and negligence?  Who’s parsing words at the FBI?

Is a tongue lashing equivalent to a prison sentence?

Then we have to concern ourselves with Hillary’s fundraising.  To whom will she be beholding for payback jobs in the government?

Even more shocking is that a majority of U.S. citizens think very differently.  According to The Washington Post, “56 percent of Americans disapprove of FBI decision to exonerate Hillary Clinton.” [3]   Does that mean that POSSIBLY the presidential baton can be handed on for another four or even eight years of “nail Americans” attitudes by the first female POTUS?  That sexist attitude seems to be prevalent in many female voters’ minds.

Somehow Hillary’s past puts this writer in mind of the squirrely things we had to deal with for eight years during the Obama administration.  The issues that made headlines, like a birth certificate, were another Kabuki treat.  However, the most shocking part of all was that the do-nothing-Congress seemingly did nothing to correct the messes and enforce the U.S. Constitution. Will we have that again with a new president?

The same issue-control mechanisms that saved Obama’s derriere now are in place for Hillary’s rather generous pants-suit size.  And still Congress is politically correct and numb-dumb about U.S. intelligence, national security matters, etc. and a rather-flippant Secretary of State who chortles, “What difference does it make?”

And yet Hillary had the chutzpah to say the Benghazi tragedy resulted from a video!  How can we trust her words as president, if she didn’t have the facts straight as Secretary of State?  Will black become white; up, down; and night, day?  If we believe the media, those changes apparently CAN happen.

But the Obama administration was not unique.  We had the Bush dynasty period, which didn’t continue in Jeb—thankfully, and who ever could forget the Bill Clinton sexual escapades in the White House Oval Office side rooms?  Is that the type of carryings-on we want again in our future?  Shouldn’t we expect, and be entitled to, a president that acts like a president, not a king or queen?

The unorthodox became ‘orthodox’ during the 2016 presidential candidate vetting season insofar as political correctness became the ‘currency’, even during those less than momentous debates.

Fashionable!  I have to check out that one since I don’t profess to be a political fashionista.

But most of all, the more obvious and applicable adjective to describe the political season so far has been “bizarre”!  And the media made it that way, in my opinion.  How could citizens be led around by our noses regarding such an important issue as our country’s leadership, even if such a quality exists anymore?  Or, is the U.S. POTUS a puppet in the hands of some sinister puppeteers who want to drag us down into becoming a Third World country?  Or, how about a member of the One and New World Order led by the United Nations.

I’m going to interject some personal feeling about the UN:  The United States should get out of the UN, and the UN should get out of the United States!

The hawks and warmongers have taken our young men and turned them into killing machines or worm fertilizer.  That seems to be the projected future for the USA, especially if war-hawk Hillary becomes Mrs. President.

Because of the unusual presidential election campaign, which really highlighted the Democrats in the media, it seems that election results are cast even before the balloting opens on November 8^th.

Even though The Donald leaves many things to be desired, he did not get a fair shake from the press.  Actually, the media has gone out of its way to neutralize him and his candidacy.  However, the really shocking part is that a discerning public supports him because, as I guestimate, he’s saying what many folks are thinking and that resonates with voters too.

So, it’s been a most unusual time.  However, the most bizarre and unpredictable times are yet to come: the party conventions and Election Day!  Will we see civil disobedience?  Will there be major disruptions—political incorrectness revolts on both sides of the political isle—in cities across the USA?

Martial Law imposed? Or, will very few people even show up to vote since many think their votes don’t count anymore; or that computer programs have been written to swing votes; or they are just too darn disgusted for having to vote for the lesser of two ‘evils’, as they say.

What a choice!  Don’t we deserve better?
