Direct attacks near Gaddafi’s residence in Tripoli, NATO confirms 7 airstrikes

According to an AFP journalist, two blasts rocked the area near Muammar Gaddafi’s residence in Libya’s capital city, Tripoli, around 12:50 AM Sunday local time.

NATO confirmed that its warplanes struck one of Gaddafi’s military command centers, claiming responsibility for seven strikes in total.

In a Times of India report, it was said that a column of smoke was observed over Gaddafi’s residential complex itself. The article also claims that it had been directly targeted by NATO bombers on Saturday.

An AFP article states the same, but fails to cite any official sources for this claim that NATO was directly targeting Gaddafi.

NATO has been directly targeting Gaddafi since the beginning of the campaign, evidenced by their attack on one of his compounds that resulted in the death of his family members. However, it would be bombshell news if NATO openly admitted to attempting to assassinate a leader with the peoples’ support.

A Reuters report, however, cites “one Tripoli resident” who said that one of the NATO strikes appeared to hit a formerly untouched intelligence building in Tripoli.

The Reuters article never mentions Gaddafi’s residential compound.

Libyan officials representing the Gaddafi regime have come forward, yet again, saying that they are ready to hold more talks with the United States and with the rebel forces.

For months now the Libyan government has been seeking a peaceful, democratic negotiation with the rebels but all indications are that NATO has no interest in such a solution.

While the mainstream media never fails to refer to Gaddafi in a pejorative manner, the people of Libya seem to be much more split over how they view their leader.

In an article published last month I detailed just some of the indications of the incomplete, propagandized picture presented to us by the Western media and their allies abroad regarding the support, or lack thereof, Gaddafi still holds on to in Libya.

The most glaring examples are the massive pro-Gaddafi demonstrations occurring in Libya, especially in the capitol of Tripoli.

When the corporate special interest media does mention these rallies, they are quick to say that the people look like they were forced to be there or were paid off to show support, all without providing a shred of evidence.

After five months solid of fighting with the massive forces of NATO behind them, the Libyan opposition forces still have not managed to oust Gaddafi.

The United States has officially recognized the al Qaeda-affiliated rebel forces as the legitimate representatives of the Libyan people, all without a single democratic voting process to determine that the people of Libya actually want these individuals in charge.

Washington has also promised the rebels that they will have access to the roughly $30 billion in assets that rightly belong to the people of Libya, not an undemocratically chosen council who have declared themselves the legitimate government.

While Gaddafi’s regime, which is endlessly demonized by the Western world, is attempting to resolve the situation through peaceful talks, the people our support is being lent to refuse.

The rebel leaders have said that Gaddafi must publicly state that he will step down from power before any talks will begin. This is a very tall order for a man that has assuredly come to enjoy his decades in power.

I fail to see how peaceful talks, even when Gaddafi refuses to meet directly with those who are attempting to kill him and those loyal to him, could do anything but ameliorate the civil war.

According to the German news outlet Deutsche Welle, Gaddafi loyalists have reported that civilians were targeted in the NATO strikes on Tripoli and the surrounding suburbs.

NATO, per usual, has claimed that the attacks were targeting “military objectives” and did not confirm any civilian casualties.

After a meeting with Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini, Vice President of Libya’s rebel National Transitional Council Ali Essawy claimed that there was a successful attack on an operations command center during which a high-ranking Libyan official was wounded.

According to Essawy, this included Seif al-Islam Gaddafi, one of the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s sons.

Regardless of their alleged advances against those Libyans still loyal to their supposedly evil and oppressive leader, the fact is that the civil war is in a bloody stalemate.

The continuous murder of those on each side will do nothing to advance a peaceful transition process, especially when the rebel forces are already suspected of committing war crimes against Gaddafi loyalists.

The NATO-supported rebels have been accused of lynching large groups of black Africans, as well as mutilating and burying Gaddafi loyalists in mass graves.

The government of Chad called on the international so-called humanitarian forces to help protect Chadian migrants who have been singled out and in some cases executed by Libyan rebels.

Not surprisingly, the U.S. support of al Qaeda-linked war criminals and racist murderers has made the dismal Arab approval numbers of America drop even lower.

Interestingly, according to a poll conducted by the Arab American Institute, the American role in establishing the bombing campaign over Libya was the lowest priority issue according to the Arab world.

While the no-fly zone over Libya may seem to be isolated and removed from most of the Arab nations, if the engineered “Arab Spring” continues, we can expect similar campaigns to be pushed by globalist interests.

Syria is the most glaring example, as I have pointed out a few times now (1, 2, 3). The biggest question is: Will we see it happen, or will it fizzle out once the people involved in the uprisings realize that they are being perverted by Western interests?
