Kentucky stepped into the national spotlight when the state’s voters stunned the establishment by electing Rand Paul to the US Senate. His opponent was the anointed golden boy, backed and endorsed by senate powerbroker Mitch McConnell and neo-con kingpin Dick Cheney. Kentuckians, angry at the abuses of the establishment, stood up for liberty and Paul won by a landslide.
Now that we’re in the political off-season, not many people are paying attention to the Gubernatorial race in Kentucky — but maybe they should be. In the Commonwealth of Kentucky, an attractive anti-establishment candidate, Phil Moffett, is looking to independent-minded voters to help make him governor. Liberty activists, who understand that genuine change can only happen in local politics, are energized to pounce on the off-season opportunity to leave the establishment in awe of people power once again.
Phil is a full-blown liberty advocate, not a neo-con, not a RINO, not a politician, and not a lawyer. He’s a successful entrepreneur, a libertarian conservative, married to his wife Christi for 14 years with four home-schooled children at the Moffett homestead. The urge to compare Phil favorably to the Drs. Paul is irresistible. All are soft-spoken, smart, articulate spokesmen for limited government and the virtues of state sovereignty, responsibility, and individual liberty.
Moffett is taking on the tyrannical establishment by exemplifying the politics of liberty. The foundation of his platform is state sovereignty as he aims to hold the Feds at the state line. The words “nullification” and “10th amendment” pepper his speeches. He’s a strong advocate for legalizing industrial hemp and for doing away with the nightmare maze of state taxes. He proposes to eliminate hundreds of hidden state levies with a single, open and honest sales tax.
As a successful businessman, he seems to be more qualified to make the commonwealth a competitive, productive state that naturally attracts job-creating enterprises than career politicians or lawyers. He understands that difficult choices will have to be made if Kentucky’s economy is to turn the corner. As his establishment contenders promise more of the same, Moffett appears poised to shake things up.
As a homeschooling parent, Moffett supports increasing school choices in order to challenge the Federal government’s near monopoly on education. His policies will not only make Kentucky’s schools more user-friendly and competitive, but get them to actually start teaching students how to think critically again.
There are only three U.S. governor’s races in 2011 and all eyes are again on Kentucky. Phil Moffett is taking on an establishment, machine-backed RINO just as Rand Paul did last year. Phil’s campaign is another chance to show the country that the freedom movement is here to stay.
There are liberty-minded activists all across this country looking forward to the 2012 elections, but who may not know there is a candidate that needs support right now. If Moffett is to beat his entrenched career-politician opponent, he needs our grassroots support. Get to know Phil Moffett and get active.
A second win for liberty in Kentucky can fuel the fire for 2012 grassroots liberty candidates across the United States. Help feed that flame! Visit Phil Moffett’s website today and share in solidarity for freedom.
