Smart Meters Transmit EMFs and RFs That Cause Non-Thermal Health Effects

Smart meters are being forced onto homeowners throughout the USA by electric, natural gas and water utility companies. However, informed consent is being denied those customers, who know what EMFs and RFs can do to human health, since utility companies ride roughshod over consumers’ rights to know and customers’ privacy and surveillance issues, which smart meters violate.

Recently in Pennsylvania, the ad hoc consumers group PASMA—Pennsylvania Smart Meter Awareness—issued a Press Release about the scientific and medical proof confirming adverse health effects from electromagnetic frequencies, which smart meters produce and use to operate. Those health effects are called “Non-thermal” health effects from microwave technology.

Suggestion: Check out all your smart devices to see how much they output in the way of EMFs and RFs. That testing can be done by using a hand-held device that looks something like a Cornet ED 78S RF/LF Electrosmog Meter (hand held) shown on this website.

WIDESPREAD SCIENTIFIC EXISTENCE OF NON-THERMAL HEALTH EFFECTS FROM MICROWAVE TECHNOLOGY DEVICES EXISTS BUT UTILITY COMPANIES DENY THAT FACT

Literally, thousands of primary literature studies show the existence of non-thermal health effects from microwaves and other lower frequency electromagnetic fields (EMFs), but current safety standards only recognize decades-old studies produced for radar known as thermal effects.

When will state regulatory commissions require utility companies to bring EMF/RF safety studies and research up to date to scientifically reflect health problems precipitated by cell phones and towers, Wi-Fi, and AMI Smart Meters being retrofitted by electric, natural gas and water utility companies?

According to Martin L. Pall, PhD, Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry and Basic Medical Sciences, Washington State University, in his paper “How to Approach the Challenge of Minimizing Non-Thermal Health Effects of Microwave Radiation from Electrical Devices” published in the September 2015 issue of International Journal of Innovative Research in Engineering & Management (pp.71-76), there are” four important factors that make the biological activity of EMFs unpredictable in terms of intensity and unpredictable in general.”

1. “Pulsed fields are in most cases more biologically active than non-pulsed fields.”
2. “There are non-linearities in dose response curves and specifically there are specific intensity windows of exposure which produce greater biological effects than exposures of either higher or lower intensity.”
3. “It has also been shown that different frequencies have different biological effects.”
4. “Polarized fields can produce much stronger forces on charged groups, which, as discussed below, are likely to have central roles in producing non-thermal biological effects.” Source

In Table 1 of Dr. Pall’s published paper, he lists NON-THERMAL or Biological Effects from EMFs/RFs along with the apparent mechanisms that produce: Oxidative stress; Single strand breaks in cellular DNA; Double strand breaks in cellular DNA; Cancer; Breakdown of Blood Brain Barrier; Male and Female Infertility; Therapeutic Effects; Depression, diverse neuropsychiatric symptoms; Melatonin depletion, sleep disruption; Cataract formation; Tachycardia, arrhythmia sometimes leading to sudden cardiac arrest—all from EMF/RF exposure.

Dr. Pall concludes that Non-Thermal Health Effects of EMFs have been documented for over 40 years. PASMA, on the other hand, questions vested corporate interests supplying microwave technologies (cell phones, towers, Wi-Fi, Smart Meters, etc.) deliberately misinforming state regulatory agencies and consumers; producing only decades-old studies; and that electromagnetic frequencies are safe.

PASMA believes there is legal standing for class action lawsuits to be filed against utility companies, including many states public utility commissions, especially in Pennsylvania where PA House of Representatives Consumer Affairs Chairman Robert Godshall refuses to bring Opt-Out bills for Smart Meters to the floor for a vote for over three years, thereby depriving Pennsylvanians of their constitutional right to redress for being made to live in fear and/or health-compromising/damaging conditions by PA PUC agency regulations interpretation of what the PA legislature passed into law (non-mandatory Smart Meters for utilities with 100,000 customers), particularly those customers and consumers whose health have been damaged by Smart Meters or whose dwellings have been damaged or destroyed by AMI Smart Meter fires.

A recent meter RF/EMF pulse test by PASMA using a hand-held pulse-measuring device, verified that a PECO-installed AMI Smart Meter emits high EMFs every fifteen (15) seconds of every minute of every hour of every day of every month of every year. How much “dirty electricity” is that sending into homes and human bodies? Who will be responsible for the health problems they cause?
