On Sunday, March 15 the author of the ridiculous and possibly treasonous letter regarding the potential agreement on a nuclear program between the P5 + 1 countries and Iran recently took to the airwaves to brazenly defend his position and his actions.
In a nation so terrified of being obliterated by a nuclear bomb from countries like Iraq, North Korea, and Iran that they are willing to allow Washington to push them into a position where they very well may be blown up by a nuclear bomb from Russia, infantile propaganda clearly reigns supreme.
While the fact that there has been absolutely no evidence that Iran is attempting to do anything other than produce a peaceful nuclear program for energy and civilian purposes as well as the fact that Iran is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty and that Israel and the United States have repeatedly committed acts of aggression towards Iran are glossed over, deception and outright lies continue to be spread about the Middle Eastern nation. Americans no longer even question whether or not Iran is capable of producing a nuclear weapon or if they have the right to do so. The question is now how long it will be before Iran acquires this weapon and how long after that it will take for Iran to nuke Israel and the United States.
Madmen like Benjamin Netanyahu are invited to speak to Congress and terrify Americans anew while Zionist Christians, convinced that Israel is America’s 51st state and anything the settler state may do has God’s stamp of approval, give rapturous applause. Such has been the scene for the last twenty years with each appearance drawing the same claims from Netanyahu that Iran is only 3 years (maybe even months!!!!!) away from detonating a nuclear bomb.
But, of course, it is not Netanyahu that deserves the lion’s share of the blame in this instance. He was invited to the US. He was only speaking to the Congress he paid for. One can hardly blame a man for getting his money’s worth. Far be it from the national interests of Americans to ever come before the interests of Israel, international banks, major corporations, and world governments.
Yet, as the propaganda ramps up, the propaganda also becomes more and more infantile. Such is evident in the recent claims of Tom Cotton that Iran is becoming increasingly aggressive in the Middle East.
Cotton told Face the Nation’s Bob Scheifer,
Well as Prime Minister Netanyahu said, the alternative to a bad deal is a better deal. The Iranians frequently bluff to walk away from the table. If they bluff this week, call their bluff. The Congress stands ready to impose much more severe sanctions. Moreover we have to stand up to Iran’s attempts to drive for regional dominance. They already control Tehran increasingly they control Damascus and Beirut and Baghdad and now Sana’a as well. They do all that without a nuclear weapon. Imagine what they would do with a nuclear weapon.
There are so many things wrong with Cotton’s statement that to debunk them all would require more pages that this writer cares to devote to paper and certainly more than any reader would care to read.
Still, some basic points must be addressed.
Virtually the only thing that Cotton gets right in his statement is that Iran already controls Tehran. Indeed, they do. It is their capital. They wouldn’t be much of a country without control over their Capitol. In fact, virtually all functioning countries control their capital city. Generally, this is not cause for alarm since it is a result of basic geography. Cotton, however, presents the fact that Tehran is controlled by the government of Iran as evidence of Iran’s aggressive military march across the Middle East.
And if one thing signals unfettered aggression and imperialism, it’s the march of military boots across sovereign countries in the Middle East. That, the United States and Israel must stand against.
But, at least Cotton got that part right. Iran does control Tehran.
Of course, Iran does not control Damascus, Beirut, or Baghdad. All three of these countries are sovereign nations that have been torn apart by Western forces in coordination with Israel for the purposes of removing any resistance to the Anglo-American world order. Iran’s involvement in each of these countries represents an alliance that benefits all four nations as they attempt to battle Western-backed ISIS terrorists running rampant across Syria and Iraq.
Sadly, most Americans (the few who actually tune in to “news” to begin with) will not even pick up on the fact that Cotton used Tehran’s influence over their own capital as evidence of their foreign entanglements. Most will simply assume that Iran is like the United States in only one aspect – that it has simply invaded another country that posed no threat to it. The irony of American foreign policy and internal politics truly has no limits.
While it is as of yet unclear whether or not Cotton’s statement was a mere slip of the tongue, an intentional lie, or an example of extreme stupidity, the real story here is not that a freshman robot had a temporary glitch in front of the nation. It is the fact that the nation did not notice.
The very fact that such statements can be made in front of an entire country without a cascade of laughter and derision is indeed a sad fact of American life and a perfect example of why the United States will most likely add one more foreign war to its long list of disgraces.
