Obama Floats The Idea of Mandatory Voting

In yet another “the collective over the individual” move from Barack Obama, during a public meeting about campaign finance reform in Cleveland on Wednesday the President floated the idea of compulsory voting in the United States.

Obama cited Australia and other countries with such laws as an example of ways in which the idea could be implemented. Of course, in Australia, citizens who do not vote are subject to fines and even imprisonment but that is no matter to Obama since fining and imprisoning individuals for refusing to become part of the hive, purchasing private products, etc. has been a hallmark of his administration since day one.

Funny enough, Obama suggested that one of the answers to the corrupting influence of money over American elections was not to end the practice of following horrendous rulings like Citizens United or to impose more regulations on political campaigns and donations, or even public funding of elections. No, Obama’s answer to the fact that Congress and the President are all available to the highest bidder is to force the American people to vote for them – whether they like it or not.

“It would be transformative if everybody voted,” Obama said. “That would counteract [campaign] money more than anything. If everybody voted, then it would completely change the political map in this country.”

While the President did not officially announce the start of an initiative to begin mandatory voting, he promoted the idea vociferously, even ludicrously claiming that compulsory voting “may end up being a better strategy in the short run” than any other possible policy.

After complaining that Democrats had been defeated in last years’ elections, which Obama attributed to his claim that Democrats tend to stay home more than Republicans – he stated, “The people who tend not to vote are young, they’re lower income, they’re skewed more heavily towards immigrant groups and minority groups. And they’re the folks who are scratching and climbing to get into the middle class and they’re working hard. There’s a reason why some folks try to keep them away from the polls. We should want to get them into the polls.”

In other words, Obama stated that he wants to ensure that his “base,” duped by propaganda, phony promises, and “hope and change” comes out for future elections by any means necessary.

But there is much more to this issue than a sore loser whining and conniving for his party to win future elections. It is about control.

In the midterm 2014 elections, voter turnout was at its lowest levels since World War II. This is partly because Americans have grown vastly more apathetic over the years but also in large part because most Americans have figured out that both parties are exactly the same.

A large portion of the American population is well aware that Democrats and Republicans – despite putting on a good show on the campaign trail – are bought and paid for by the same interests. They understand that electing either of the two selected puppets will have exactly the same effect on their lives as it would have if they had reversed their vote in the opposite direction.

By forcing Americans to go to the polls and commit the meaningless gesture of pushing a button and choosing between CFR member A and CFR member B, the play will legitimize itself by producing an audience.

The buttons pushed are irrelevant, however. The goal is to continue passing so many laws and policies that compel the average citizen to do something they do not want to do or have no interest in doing until each individual is forced to ask permission for even the most inane activities.

Pushing buttons on a screen may seem like no big deal at first but the power of the State, the Corporation, bank, and secret society is growing day by day. The police state is already here to enforce every whim of any of the aforementioned parties. All they need is permission to do so.
