Obamacare Abortion Coverage Update

For those healthcare consumers who are interested in the topic of abortions as covered in the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, there may be important information to know.

There are secret abortion fees hidden in almost every plan’s premiums.

First and foremost, this writer feels she ought to divulge her position on abortion which is: Abortion is the most personal heart-wrenching decision a female can make between herself, her God, and her physician – no one else should be involved.

If a female so chooses to have an abortion, then she, and only she, should have to pay for that procedure, not impose her decision and its financial responsibility upon others. If insurance is to be provided for such coverage, then those who wish to purchase that coverage should pay the premiums – they, and no one else!

After all, a normal pregnancy usually results from actions taken by two people, and in this writer’s opinion, those two people should be responsible for payment for abortion services, just as this writer believes that no women anywhere should be castigated for adultery. It takes two to commit adultery, so why are men absolved in some countries and women made to pay the social consequences? – sometimes with death!

Abortion is a highly charged socio-political-religious issue that has been used, and will be used, to effectuate new social norms that will not be accepted readily by many segments of society, which is their right and which they should not be made to bear the financial brunt for promises by ‘ideological’ politicians who, quite frankly, don’t know their hand from their foot when it comes to moral consequences or issues of conscience that concern people who choose to live by certain convictions, irrespective of religious affiliations.

Personally, no one should be made financially liable for another female’s abortion, but almost everyone in the USA under Obamacare will have to contribute to abortions! Here’s how: Supposedly, those signing up for Obamacare on the exchanges will have One Dollar ($1.00) of each month’s premiums go to funding abortions. When you signed up, were you asked to check off that box regarding abortion?

Abortions are addressed in the Affordable Care Act at 18023(E)(3)(A).

Representative Joe Pitts (R-PA-16), Chair of the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce subcommittee on health, says

The president promised when the health care bill passed that it would not cover abortion. We knew that was an empty promise as the bill stipulated a $1 a month surcharge for plans that covered abortions. On top of that … it’s near impossible to decipher which plans include abortion and at what cost!

Before we go further, let’s take a look at what Congressman Chris Smith, Co-Chair of Bipartisan Congressional Pro-Life Congress, has to say about the issue. (Source)

Congressman Smith contends there are three BIG lies about abortion in Obamacare. They are:

Big Lie No. 1: “The Act maintains current Hyde Amendment restrictions governing abortion policy and extends those restrictions to newly created health insurance exchanges.” (Obama Executive Order 13535)

Big Lie No. 2: Information about which Obamacare plans cover abortion “is on the website…it is available…” (Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius at a December 11 hearing.)

Big Lie No. 3: “[I]n the Senate bill [which later became law], if you are receiving Federal assistance to buy insurance, and if that plan has any abortion coverage, the insurance company must bill you separately, and you must pay separately from your own personal funds–perhaps a credit card transaction, your separate personal check, or automatic withdrawal from your bank account–for that abortion coverage. Now, let me say that again. You have to write two checks: one for the basic policy and one for the additional coverage for abortion. The latter has to be entirely from personal funds.” (Senator Ben Nelson (NE), Dec. 24, 2009)

Since the abortion issue apparently is getting out of hand, as considered by many, i.e., not only that close to 57 million fetuses have been aborted as a result of legalized abortion, but now with the ACA mandate by law that people-of-conscience will have to contribute to the moral crime of abortion as they see it, things just may get ugly.

All sides ought to realize what’s at stake, just not a political victory for an unpopular president, who has taken to bypassing Congress with his Executive Orders, something voters are saying increasingly needs to be reined in.

Here’s a part of what abortion apologists probably will consider as the ‘ugliness’: House Majority Leader Eric Cantor will be introducing “The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act” sometime very soon, which ought to clarify the abortion premium issue. According to Congressman Chris Smith though and as it stands now, a survey of insurance plans revealed that out of 112 plans, 103 cover abortions.

Since when is killing a human life form considered healthcare? From all my studies I never learned that for a human being to be born into this dimension, it did not have to go through the first, second, or third trimester of pregnancy.
