GPS Experts Describe Ligado 5G As A “Grave Error” and “Fiasco”

American expert warnings and opposition to 5G deployment are about more than biological and environmental risks (see 1, 2, 3) In fact, several federal agencies have issued warnings about how it threatens national security, public safety, and weather forecasting accuracy. These agencies include the Pentagon, Departments of Energy (DoE) and Transportation (DoT), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), NASA, and the U.S. Navy.

None of this seems to matter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) – the agency that’s supposed to protect Americans by regulating the telecom industry. In fact, all but one commissioner has approved the acceleration of 5G deployment during the pandemic.

GPS committee calls FCC Ligado order a “grave error”

A committee charged with giving the U.S. government advice on space-based navigation services concluded that the Federal Communication Commission’s approval of Ligado’s 5G network is a “high-risk” decision that jeopardizes Global Positioning System services.

During a July 1 meeting of the National Space-Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing Advisory Board, held online, members discussed a report prepared for the committee about the April FCC decision to allow Ligado to operate a 5G terrestrial network on a spectrum band neighboring that used by GPS.

“It abruptly changed the whole character of the radio spectrum near the GPS primary frequency,” said Brad Parkinson, a vice-chair of the committee and chief architect of the GPS system during its development in the 1970s, of the FCC’s approval of Ligado. “The FCC has made a grave error in authorizing the high-power terrestrial comm network in this spectrum right next to GPS.”

BoatUS Sounds the Alarm About Potential GPS Fiasco

“Tough Luck!” That’s what the Federal Communications Commission seems to be saying to all recreational boaters who rely on the accuracy of GPS, and the Boat Owners Association of The United States is bringing the issue to light.

A controversial FCC order threatens the reliability of millions of GPS units now in use be the nation’s recreation boaters. A decision in late April gave a mobile satellite services operator, Ligado Networks, approval to build and operate a land-based industrial 5G wireless network that will negatively impact the reliability of the nation’s GPS.

Specifically, a BoatUS investigation has determined Ligado’s slice of licensed “L-Band” spectrum, designated for space-based navigation and communications, is located near lower frequency bands. These are the bands used by hundreds of millions of GPS units for public safety, health, government, transportation, military, commerce, agriculture and more.

BoatUS is a founding member of the recently launched Keep GPS Working Coalition. Their study indicates that as the Ligado network is rolled out, instances of signal interference will rapidly increase.

The bottom line? Current GPS users will be either have to purchase a new GPS unit or suffer the likelihood of continued interference.

American opposition to the FCC’s forced 5G deployment continues to increase (see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. 8). Lawsuits have been filed against the agency about 5G deployment AS WELL AS for NOT protecting Americans from unsafe levels of radiation (see 1, 2). The telecoms have provided NO EVIDENCE that 5G is safe.

Cities AND countries worldwide have taken action to ban, delay, halt, and limit 5G installation as well as issue moratoriums due to health and safety risks and warnings. The majority of scientists worldwide are also opposed to deployment until there studies show that it’s safe.
