Google And YouTube Target “Conspiracy Theories” in New Quality Control Update

By Aaron Kesel

Google continues to make George Orwell’s book 1984 a reality by censoring free speech and free flow of information.

On July 27, 2017 Google updated their quality raters guidelines.

The latest update to its rating guidelines brings many changes, but the biggest are focused on conspiracy theory websites and query results in the non-English language and satirical pages that don’t make it clearly known they are satire.

Months before, Google updated their guidelines for raters twice – once on May 11, 2017 with some smaller changes, and then again on March 14th with bigger controversial changes classifying what “offensive, upsetting, inaccurate and hateful web pages,” defines.

The new guidelines giving a search giant so much control over the free flow of information is extremely worrying.

The guidelines instruct raters to directly confront “unsubstantiated conspiracy theories” by looking for a source that debunked them, The Sem Post reported.

The Post noted that the rules don’t specifically target and go after all “conspiracy theory” websites, only those that present a “conspiracy theory as factual information without basis.”

However, who decides what is and what isn’t real?

Who are the companies behind this valiant effort to police Google’s search engine, and who watches the watchers?

Well according to Search Engine Land, “Google contracts with over 10,000 search quality raters worldwide to evaluate its search results. Raters are given actual searches to conduct, drawn from real searches that happen on Google.”

None of the companies it contracts with were named.

Under section 7.10, Google goes on to crucify “unsubstantiated conspiracy theories.”

7.10 Examples of Lowest Quality Pages:

Lowest: Deceptive page purpose – unsubstantiated conspiracy theories.

Google added an example of “unsubstantiated conspiracy theories” choosing the most wild and crazy ones out there but also labeling “the existence of aliens,” to be low-quality content.

The example they used was the alleged existence of the Sumerian 10th planet Nibiru and the conspiracy the Vatican knows about its impending crash into Earth. But then, after that, the document defined what it considers “unsubstantial conspiracy theories” which includes those challenging “well established historical facts.” But the connotation of what those historical facts would entail is not included.

“The  MC  on  this  page  contains  factually unsupported  theories  related  to  the  Vatican’s knowledge  of  the  planet  Nibiru,  the  existence  of aliens,  and  upcoming  world  events.   Although various  Vatican  officials  and  scientists  are quoted  in  the  article,  the  quotations  do  not support  the  article’s  claims,  and  in  some  cases do  not  seem  to  come  from  the  person  quoted. The  Nibiru  cataclysm  and  related  events  have also  been  thoroughly  debunked  by  authoritative sources  ( Reference  1 ,  Reference  2 ).   The demonstrably  inaccurate  content  on  this  page can  misinform  users.

“Pages that directly contradict well established historical facts (e.g., unsubstantiated conspiracy theories), unless the query clearly indicates the user is seeking an alternative viewpoint

A nonsatirical webpage or website presents unsubstantiated conspiracy theories or hoaxes as if the information were factual,” Google wrote.

The example in the PDF continues to show that raters should be able to find credible sources that have debunked the conspiracy theory.

Meanwhile, YouTube a Google parent company, is planning on crucifying anyone who doesn’t upload fuzzy cat videos and puppies; in other words, all their controversial content creators under the guise of getting rid of “extremist content.”

These organizations to police YouTube’s content include the No Hate Speech Movement, the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, and the Anti-Defamation League.

But don’t worry, Google won’t ban controversial conspiracy content altogether only if you’re not looking for it. As the document noted, “unless the query clearly indicates the user is seeking an alternative viewpoint.”

We are further witnessing the YouTube, Google and Amazon adpocalypse against the alternative media and it’s far from over.

  1. The headline is misleading. Google is targeting conspiracy theories without evidence (the article questions what evidence is) presented as factual. These are the kinds of conspiracy theories used to poison the well of legitimate conspiracy allegations. Taking the poison out of the well serves legitimate conspiracy concerns by discrediting those that make all conspiracy theories look whacky.

i suspect that behind most lunatic conspiracy theories is the Deep State, the ultimate conspiracy, with the goal of lumping together the good, the bad, and the ugly to silence those who question its existence or power. Who benefit for instance from the chemtrails conspiracy theory? The polluters who seek to distract us from the known and lethal poisons they pump into our environment under our own noses. Who benefits from the allegations that the mass gun murders are fake? The gun makers and their shills like the NRA.

Whom does the Deep State serve: Wall St and the corporate masters.

That’s my master conspiracy theory…so shoot me.

    • Hi Dale I can see your point but my opinion is simply that google or any other group should not censor at all! How many times has a “loony” conspiracy theory being proven correct. Google,you-tube and others have amassed fortunes off information. I want to be able to read and research anything I want. If anything I want more access. I am personally so tired of the its classified oh its a secret whatever garbage that gets thrown around. As you clearly stated the deep state uses disinformation to create a bunch of rabbit holes for us to run around in. The individual should decide what is of value and not some organization. This encroachment by Google and others is just the beginning of the incremental approach that they love to use so much. Plus I find it so humorous that an organization whom made fortunes off information wants to stifle it. Just like Zuckerberg who made his fortune off social networking wants to decide whom or what gets to be posted. He also loves the universal basic income. I wonder if he will be giving up his money to join the rest of us.

      • “Conspiracy theory’s acutely negative connotations may be traced to liberal historian Richard Hofstadter’s well-known fusillades against the “New Right.” Yet it was the Central Intelligence Agency that likely played the greatest role in effectively “weaponizing” the term. In the groundswell of public skepticism toward the Warren Commission’s findings on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the CIA sent a detailed directive to all of its bureaus. Titled “Countering Criticism of the Warren Commission Report,” the dispatch played a definitive role in making the “conspiracy theory” term a weapon to be wielded against almost any individual or group calling the government’s increasingly clandestine programs and activities into question.” globalresearch

When a false allegation is made and is used, as the CiA intended, to poison the well of skepticism about the assassination of jfk, RFK, MLK, 9/11, etc, it does great harm to honest discourse and has evil effects.

You can read all the loony conspiracy theories you want but why should google promote them? I think a better policy would be to publish them with a critique based on evidence by respected scholars.

And no one is forced to use Google or Facebook. See you at Myspace!

        • “I think a better policy would be to publish them with a critique based on evidence by respected scholars.” that would be the best option, but when last did any of the people involved, act in a logical manner?
on the other hand, if some people and/or the organisations that they work for, weren’t so evil, there wouldn’t be any conspiracy theories, nor any need for censorship

        • Something very similar is going on at present with search engines. The sites where articles are posted are being heavilly restricted to say 2 or 3, when just 6 months ago a good article posted on Activist Post would be picked-up by a around 6/7 sites – or sometimes many more – and they would all appear on google, duck duck go etc.

It looks like closing in on freedom of speech is coming from all angles now.

        • Granted we do not have to use either but I am talking about free flow of information. Making false allegations is harmful but so is suppressing information. If google is allowed to censor then anyone can. Then what information are you going to assume is correct or accurate? What the government allows? Plus I am not talking about promoting at all. I am talking about google and others deciding for us what is pertinent or loony. If all of the information is available then people can make up their own minds.Plus whom do you consider accurate respected scholars. What if I disagree with whom you feel are respected scholars? I totally understand your take on all governments and others using dis-information to hamper true research. Is Google respected or the others google is using? It is up to the user to determine what information is respected and true. Hopefully after researching a variety of sources. If censorship is allowed soon you will only have one view available. Dale didn’t they already take down Myspace 🙂

        • Why should Google promote them when they can pay dale ruff to lie and obfuscate for them. Hmmm, stale wuff, you were saying.

We see you at your empty space, that missing middle between your ears, Gail Wuff, a doos so useless that even a hard-up pimp wouldn’t rent out your face.

      • A few years ago Dale started hanging around A. Post calling us all right wing conspiracy nuts for discussing such things as chemtrails, fudged data in climate change models, criticism of vaccinations as unsafe, and typical New World Order analysis.

IMO, he would be the first person to ban discussions on Sandy Hook as a false flag or “Capstone Event”. Boston too. He can’t win on 9/11, so he lets that one go now.

Dale is also in favor of banning hate speech and odds are that would include any criticism or counter narratives to the official version of the Holocaust. This is someone who is proud of his Harvard education. Ironically, Cass Sunstein is a Harvard professor. Sunstein discussed fining conspiracy theorists and proposed a “Cognitive Infiltration” program.

      • Word to the wise from the wise….Ruff is a psy-op / spin doc ‘specious-specialty’ troll & an ardent bloviator of ignominious sophistry…I wouldn’t waste your time with his cul-de-sac circumlocution…(imo)

    • Google has a new AI that determines Toxicity (their version of describing “deception”). Jim Stone covers this on his page. If you type into the AI window, “all muslims are terrorists” the toxicity is 100%. If you type “all jews are terrorists” the toxicity (deception) is 80-something percent, if you type “all christians are terrorists” google deems that only 3% toxic. Meaning, mostly true. This is Google. Forget what you think about Conspiracies…. Google and all of the Aristo-Technocrati are purposely fostering propaganda across the internet, have you google-image searched “European peoples history” or “European peoples art”??? Even Bing, yahoo, etc?

No longer constrained by the peer pressure of business practices, or LAW. Apparently it’s gloves off.

    • Sheep state: Whom doth Google serve.

Wake up, duff, your Hegelian Dicklicktus is showing, your master’s voice we all be a knowing, bought and souled ar$ehole, stale bluff indeed!

      • I have been banned at Townhall and Twitchy on the right and opednews on the left for being politically incorrect. i woke up long ago and realized there are fools on both sides, some of whom love the sound of their own voice and replace rational discourse with narcissistic ad homs. and self-stroking literary fluff. How sad that you hide behind your cyber hood.

“”I think a better policy would be to publish them with a critique based on evidence by respected scholars.”

        • Ar$eicysdick sad dumbs: National intercourse, to be sure, Twitchy, The Eagle provides the cure.

How sad that you’re a perpetual whiner, wail ruff; and should you wish to be taken sincerely, best ye beat your own drum, not that of your puppet master’s, failing which, you’ll be shredded in dispatches, tail gunners wandering headless sans training wings, an unsightly vision that dale ruff matches.

  2. It is true that the title of this page is misleading. The issue here is that the ‘conspiracy theory presented as fact’ idea is open to interpretation and the methodology being used to verify the validity of the conspiracy theory appears to go no further than ‘ask experts’. For those who understand that it is very common for ‘experts’ to have been artificially created or inflated expressly for the purposes of promoting lies as ‘fact’ – it is clear that such a mechanism in a search engine is an open invitation to hugely skewing the availability of useful information that is served via that search engine.
However, as long as alternative search engines exist that do not fall prey to this corruption of data and the rejection of the idea that internet users are intelligent enough to decide for themselves what is and is not a ‘good’ source of information – then what ‘should’ occur is that users will stop using Google and use other search engines – forcing Google to change it’s approach.

As ‘Buddha’ (allegedly) said “Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth”.

  3. Listen to John F Kennedy’s speech on secret societies in which he specifically addresses a conspiracy against America.

  4. Are all those sites owned by the joos or is in fact a cia op?

    • Rev. Walking Turtle | August 7, 2017 at 3:28 pm |

Google “Perspectives” Appraisal: This text is 4% likely to be perceived as “toxic”. (So read between the lines and we’ll work around the ‘bots samesame.) 😉

Errrmmm… Actually imvho that is a difference of no particular distinction. But for one key point: It ain’t Judaism that is the problem. And it ain’t Semites either, odd to note against the non-stop backdrop of too-blonde shrieking against “anti-semites”.

It’s the blonde, blonde blue-eyed Militant Zionism. And the infiltration of the Constitutionally secular USG by the militant ZioConservative Class of pwnership. All arrayed against America’s national interest. Tilted toward Jerusalem and against the Rest of Us at every move.

Right down to 98% of the US National Legislature’s membership(!) And that is all. 0{;-/o[

Yes , they go hand in hand.

  5. Douglas Lloyd Anderson | August 7, 2017 at 3:57 pm |

So, the russkies are investigating our
moon landings and I can’t watch the doc on Utube .

  6. This is a conspiracy in itself. If America had an educational system that taught critical thinking then there’d be no need for a representative of TPTB to have to begin to dumb down the internet so that those with a reasoning deficit wouldn’t be led astray, besides any ulterior motives google and TPTB might have. And where or where does it stop once started? And just perhaps many like to read up on plan 9 from planet x and its Vatican connections for the pure fun of it, like going to the Rocky Horror show. I can see my days using google as a search engine are numbered. What say the rest of you? Let google know how you feel… yes means leave the internet as is, no means do whatever you like with the internet
    yes = ^
    no = v

Does this mean that the NIST report on the collapse of WTC building 7 will now get a ‘sarc’ designation?

  7. I’m sure they will leave the Flat Earth videos alone.

  8. YouTube has taken my “conspiracy’ YouTube channel(s) down twice now, both times I had 8K subscribers and 2.5 Million views – for “bullying”.

    • Likely you inadvertently exposed our very own dale ruff as a bought and souled shill for The Tribe, the Sheep State inside.

      • You are full of shit and evil, oh hooded one Your libel behind your mask is very………….pathetic.
You are less eagle, more troll. I suggest you contribute some ideas rather than play the troll.

        • So sayeth the mental midget, smoke and mirrors, it must be bridget.

Ar$ewipe duff, you want some libel, you’ll receive more than an eyeful, tail gunning in the canyon shan’t receive anymore nor less than which it deserves, and whining like a stuck pig, the truth of matters strikes the ruff nerve, best you stick to your safe space, VVanker, lest you wish to be dished up as the usual hors d’oeuvres, on a platter with batter, just to rearmind, your whining don’t matter, gail wuff.

Many Thanks, have re-blogged on walls of https://penninerainbows.blog

  10. Google can huff and puff all the live long day and they’ll never be able to blow down the house of truth.

  11. Soros, Junker, UN/EEC and pals are clear about their goals and ambitions which are being supported by all the cash they can throw towards. An article seemingly buried by media which outlines their internet policies and offices of truth, which apparently recently Russia now also embraces and Soros and pals have us all headed. The Chinese hero who brought the news forward hasnt been heard from since. Article called – Creating the Honest Man
