2016: The Year America’s Two-Party System Officially Began to Implode

trump-hillaryBy Carey Wedler

As November inches closer, America’s two-party duopoly continues to implode. Disillusioned Democrats are making a mass exodus from their party while prominent Republicans vow to support Clinton over Trump, and once clear-cut lines in American politics are disintegrating as Americans seek other, actually “less evil” options.

Just before the Democratic National Convention last month, revelations from WikiLeaks’ dump of thousands of Democratic National Committee emails confirmed many Sanders supporters’ fears. The party colludes with the media, and top officials attempted to use that influence to paint Sanders as an incompetent candidate in an arguably rigged election.

At the convention, the DNC’s decision to nominate Clinton and build walls in order to keep out protesters further spurred disenchanted Democrats away from the party. In fact, Sanders’s own delegates booed him when he told them to support Clinton, and dozens staged a walkout during the official nominating ceremony.

The exit of Democratic voters following the convention was dubbed #DemExit, and even Sanders reportedly left the party to return to his “independent” status in the Senate.

As one now-former Democrat wrote in a blog titled, “Dear Democratic Party, I’m Leaving You and I’m Taking the Kids:”

When my party decides to build A WALL(!!!) around their convention, in fear that perhaps democracy might find a way in, then they are no longer my party… When my party crowns an Empress, before the first vote is even cast, then they are no longer my party… When my party colludes with corporate media heads to falsify ‘the news’ and deceive the American people into not voting, then they are no longer my party.

The blogger vowed to “spend the remainder of [their] years fighting against them,” and is joined by prominent liberals equally offended by the primary process and party corruption.

Growing disdain for the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton is matched only by the Republicans vowing #NeverTrump. Some of the Republican Party’s most prominent figures are promising to vote for Clinton over the current Republican candidate.

Considering Clinton’s past support for so-called “free trade deals,” her ambitious hawkishness, her allegiance to corporate oligarchs and her Cold War rhetoric against Russia, it should come as no surprise that establishment Republicans are siding with her over Trump. Of course, Republicans do not cite these reasons for supporting Clinton. Rather, they invoke the same lesser of two evils argument the Clinton camp has been feverishly selling.

“It’s not enough tosimply not support Trump,” said Charles Fried, who was solicitor general during the Reagan administration, as reported by The Atlantic. “It is imperative that this man not be allowed to get anywhere near the levers of power. He must be defeated, and the only way to do that is by supporting Hillary Clinton.”

Fried said he has received praise from other Republicans for supporting Clinton.

Former Reagan aide, Doug Elmets, enthusiastically chose Clinton over Trump, to whom he referred as a “toddler.” He likened voting for Clinton to being a patriot:

To my fellow Republicans, if you believe like I do, you believe that loyalty to our country is more important than loyalty to party, I ask that you join me in voting for Hillary Clinton.

The Washington Post — which, coincidentally, was implicated in the DNC leaks — compiled a thorough list of Republican figures siding with Clinton over Trump. They include former Bush officials like Henry Paulson, who served as former secretary of the treasury; prominent neoconservatives like the Brookings Institution’s Robert Kagan and Max Boot, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations; aides from former Republican administrations; and Republican political operatives.

Some, like former Mitt Romney aide, Mike Treiser, claimed to care about tolerance and peace in their justifications for supporting Clinton. “In the face of bigotry, hatred, violence, and small-mindedness, this time, I’m with her,” he said, condemning Donald Trump’s despicably violent rhetoric while expressing support for a politician who aggressively pushes violent policies.

Those leaving the Democratic Party out of principle and in search of better options may be more worthy of praise than prominent Republicans siding with Clinton because she will maintain the status quo. But in both instances, traditional party loyalties are being thrust out the window.

The fact that diehard members of the Republican party are opting to vote for Clinton shoots holes in the popular, long-standing belief that the Democratic and Republican parties represent fundamentally different values. That so many established Republicans are abandoning their party in favor of a politician reviled by the Right demonstrates how few differences there are between the two parties – and what lengths those in power will go to in order to maintain the current paradigm.

In contrast, growing numbers of Americans have expressed desires for third-party options. Both Gary Johnson and Jill Stein are receiving increased support in polls, especially among young people (Stein is still not included on ballots in all 50 states, meaning it is currently impossible for her to win a national election).

Nevertheless, the establishment’s fear is apparent. Last week, a federal judge rejected a lawsuit filed by Gary Johnson to force the Commission on Presidential Debates to allow him to participate in upcoming debates. As Johnson’s campaign manager, Ron Nielson, said:

There is clearly an unprecedented desire for alternatives to the Republican and Democratic nominees, and voters deserve an opportunity to see and hear that there are, in fact, other credible, serious choices.

  1. Thank you for reporting the establishment’s position. We the real men and women most definitely want Trump!!!!

    You article is Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay off!!!

  2. Such is the truth of the matter … sadly

  3. The choice is simple. You can vote with the warmongers/Council on Foreign Relations/Goldman Sachs, or you can vote for Donald Trump.

    • Or you can quit pretending that voting isn’t just manipulated and ignored and stop giving them the excuse that they govern “by the will of the people”

    • Lol. The choice is only simple when you don’t understand that:

Trump is intellectually and emotionally unfit for office
Is just as pro-Zionist as Hillary.
      Your vote doesn’t matter.
We’re in for disaster either way.

Oh, and Trump’s right–it IS rigged, which is why he will lose.

  4. I know it moral and ethical to abstain from evil. I have no moral, or ethical obligation in voting for a lesser of two evils. A vote in such case is a vote for evil. I prefer being moral and ethical, these are virtues I value. So, I choose to abstain from voting.

  5. Thumbs Down to Doug Elmets – It’s great how te lines are being drawn. …”no More MR nice guy. The gloves are coming off…” The Donald around 1.Aug.2016 at Wings over the Rockies.
These Neocon NWO guys are all the same. They would rather vote for a coke head, as is the case of the HillBillary ugly vile broken snake that it is.
Notice none of the dynastic families have endorsed The Donald.
Not to worry, the more they are against the more I am for Trump.

  6. Trump and Hillary are both warmongers as they are both US citizens, all US citizens are warmongers and have been for decades. If you pay your taxes into the corporate/government war machine then you are a “warmonger”. The US citizen needs to take a good long look in a mirror. Karma is Karma. There is no such thing as the lesser evil. Evil is an absolute like love. And Don and Hillary are evil.

    • That’s a lot of hot toxic air you are breathing in.

      • Paul’s example is extreme, but threre is some validity to what he wrote.
Much like the German people who were well aware of hitlers atrocities lied to each other and themselves about knowledge or involvement.
When it was all over, they did some soul searching and admitted their contribution, no matter how small.

Make no mistake. If you are not actively fighting against evil, your silence, or inaction, condones it.

All that is necessary for evil to thrive is for good men to do nothing.

The biggest excuse Americans make is that they aren’t doing anything wrong. They aren’t part of the corruption.
That is just the problem. They aren’t doing ANYTHING !
They think by sitting on the fence it gives them an out.
        They were wrong.

Wether we like it or not, our inaction is playing a part in our own demise.
We’ve become detached voyeurs of our own lives and nation being ruined. We are ruducing ourselves to nothing more than lint that is just there. Not doing anything, but just there, taking up space.
Neither for nor against. So neutral from fear that it is like we aren’t even really there.

  7. “The [entire] United States Constitutional Republic was destined to fall [implode] from its inception. This is borne out in the following two passages:

‘And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.’ (Matthew 7:26-27)

‘[E]very kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.’ (Matthew 12:25)

“The house known as the Constitutional Republic was not built upon the rock of Yahweh’s1 word, but instead upon Enlightenment and Masonic concepts.2 It began and continues as a divided house….

“The day is therefore approaching when the Republic’s cup of iniquity will be full and Yahweh’s longsuffering is exhausted. At that time, the Republic will be subjected to His judgment. Like all nations before her built onsand, she will cease to exist. The question that remains is whether that generation’s Christians will be prepared to build upon her ruins. If not, another ungodly nation will fill the void until finally a future generation of our posterity are prepared to erect a government and society upon Yahweh’s righteousness as expressed in His triune moral law (His commandments, statutes, and judgments).4

“It is therefore incumbent upon this and all intervening generations of Christians to do everything in their power to help prepare for that future generation ofChristians to do it right(eous) the next time….”

    • Misusing the Bible has its pitfalls.

The first reason you give for the U.S. imploding doesn’t apply. The scripture is directed toward individuals not a nation.

The second reason you give for the U.S. imploding has nothing to do with its inception. You, of course, want to blame the U.S. Constitution because of your desire to get it abolished, but any political entity can become divided over time. That can’t be blamed on the Constitution. It is more likely the fault of those who have worked hard to destroy the Constitution, like you.

The Bible doesn’t contain any warnings, prohibitions or sanctions against our Constitution. It’s all in your mind, Ted, but your twisting of scripture to fit your agenda isn’t winning you any supporters among biblically literate Christians and American patriots.

  8. its been quite some time since we had a two party system
what we have is a uniparty controlled by wall st

  9. Do anyone think it’s a coincidence that the US election circus is imploding at the same the global elite are itching to begin the process of switching the (petro) US dollar reserve system out for their NWO global RFID Mark-of-The-Beast digital currency – likely via the IMF SDR? Or a coincidence last summer the Wall Street Journal was floating the idea of a fracturing of the US, breaking it up into smaller units?

We’re being conditioned to accept authoritarian rule under “experts” aka Technocracy. The sheep will say “It can’t be worse than what we have, at least they’ll be experts!”. That’s EXACTLY what happened after the banking crisis when the new Greek and Italian heads of state were appointed as international bankster-seeded Technocrats. The Atlantic just published an article describing Obama’s “great legacy” of expanding technocracy.

  10. let them be destroyed
    what does it matter anyway
it’s all a Charade, and YOU the public are too blind to see that… this is why the course has progressed into the course it has, and started when we supported in our wisdom, humanism instead of Jesus.

  11. Johnson is Establishment-lite and his running mate is Establishment…so his recent dissing of Trump and mild support for Hillary is further exposes the massive co-opting of the entire system.

BTW, Hillary’s “cold war rhetoric” is just that, rhetoric. She and her campaign chairman Podesta have been very cozy with Russian oligarchs and the big high tech Skolkovo Foundation enabling the transfer of “sensitive and classified technology and research” to Russia risking national security such that the FBI issued a letter of “extraordinary warning”. Of course, in exchange, Podesta and Hillary both received millions of dollars of “contributions” to their respective foundations, including Podesta’s “far left think tank” Center for American Progress. This was reported 8/1/16 by several media outlets. Why didn’t the alt media jump on this too??

  12. The Democratic Party is the party of changing the U.S. Constitution. Rewriting the U.S. Constitution. That is why it is so important to turn everything Trump says into a noose. But, many Republicans are also involved. Why the right to select the Supreme Court is so important is because SCOTUS will be the instrument of change of the Constitution. I am not yet ready to kiss away my Constitution-guaranteed rights.

  13. You are the first one who I have read who has “gotten it”. It’s about owning the Supreme Court which will rewrite the U.S.. Constitution,

  14. The Donald has awakened more people to the tyranny of our current situation than anyone in my lifetime. He doesn’t get near the credit he deserves.

  15. Gregory Alan of Johnson | August 10, 2016 at 4:45 pm |

The lid on the delusion is being exposed/removed.

  16. I don’t fell sorry for Bernie at all. He was willing to steal from people that actually work hard to give to them that won’t work at all, and make himself rich in the process.. Hillary is no better.
